ANSAB is a civil society organization that has been working for biodiversity conservation and livelihoods improvement across South Asia for over three decades. It places community empowerment and economic incentives at the heart of its approach, and has been consistently evolving, consolidating, institutionalizing and advancing the approaches and strategies for the promotion of community-based enterprises and value chains, natural resources management and biodiversity conservation, enabling policy environment and multi-stakeholders.
ANSAB is currently seeking a qualified, dynamic and result oriented person for the following position for a potential project that will be implemented in four districts in the Terai Arc Landscape, Nepal. The project aims to increase the capacity of marginalized groups to participate in sustainable forest management and access benefits provided by the Emission Reduction Program. The details of the position with responsibilities, essential skills, and qualifications are as follows:

Major roles and responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating implementation of the project activities. The role ensures that project activities are implemented efficiently, inclusively in alignment with the project’s objectives. Major responsibilities of this position include:
Project Management
- Ensure effective and timely implementation of project activities in alignment with the project document and allocated budget
- Ensure the proper implementation in line with the project operational manual, sub-grants operational manual, and other required documents in coordination with the project management team (PMT)
- Coordinate with sub-grantees and cluster-level support hubs for the effective facilitation and implementation of project activities
- Provide operational guidance to cluster coordinators, field project teams, sub-grantees, and community-based groups for implementation of the project activities
- Organize biannual and annual sub-grantee meetings and other partner meetings
- Ensure operationalization of the project grievance redress mechanism, ensuring accessibility and timely resolution
- Coordinate with Provincial Forest Ministries, Division Forest Offices, and other relevant agencies to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the project intervention
- Coordinate the project’s technical working group comprising sub-grantees and the project advisory committee, compile their inputs, and inform to project planning and implementation
Technical Leadership
- Facilitate to develop and design communication packages, training modules on REDD+, Emission Reduction Program (ERP), Benefit Sharing Plan (BSP)
- Coordinate federal-level trainings and provide backstopping support to Cluster Coordinators on the development of investment plans in line with BSP provisions, in coordination with partner organizations and trained local resource persons (LRPs)
- Work closely with Cluster Coordinators and the sub-grantees for implementation of the sub-grants for community-led investments promoting community-led sustainable forest management, sustainable livelihoods, and enhanced local adaptation capacities
- Coordinate project-specific national and provincial events, dialogues, and multi-stakeholder forums focusing on REDD+, ERP, and BSP
M & E and Compliance
- Implement project monitoring and evaluation systems in coordination with the MEAL Specialist, ensure that the targeted beneficiaries are reached, and reflect the indicators/targets mentioned in the project paper
- Prepare bi-annual progress reports and share with relevant stakeholders
- Ensure strict compliance with fiduciary requirements, procurement guidelines, and financial reporting obligations
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Master’s degree in forestry or a related field with a minimum of twelve years of relevant professional experience. Of which, at least 5 years of experience in a leadership position managing projects funded by bilateral or multilateral organizations
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate a multi-stakeholder project involving government agencies, civil society organizations, Indigenous People’s Organization, and Local Communities
- Proven experience in sustainable forest management, community forest, REDD+, climate change mitigation, enterprise development, and community-based development initiatives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Nepali language
- Familiarity with the Emission Reduction Program (ERP) and the Benefit Sharing Plan (BSP) of the government of Nepal
