1. Background
KOSHISH is a non-profit organization working for the promotion of mental health and psychosocial wellbeing in Nepal. It advocates for the rights, dignity, and inclusion of persons with psychosocial disabilities based on the evidence collected from the implementation of various mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programs at the community, provincial, and national levels.
To strengthen program quality, expand services, and improve organizational visibility and sustainability, KOSHISH invites applications from qualified and committed candidates for the position of Program Manager.
2. Purpose of the Role
The Program Manager will be responsible for leading the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and coordination of all projects under KOSHISH. This role is also critical in organizational development, policy influence, strategic networking, and resource mobilization.
3. Major Duties and Responsibilities
A. Project Development, Implementation, Monitoring & follow-up
- Lead the implementation of existing and new projects, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
- Ensure project planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting are aligned with donor and organizational requirements.
- Support the long-term sustainability of projects and the organization through strategic planning, local ownership, and resource diversification.
- Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation visits to project areas (minimum 40% travel).
- Ensure quality assurance in all programmatic and narrative reporting.
- Strengthen partnerships with government stakeholders, funding agencies, and CSOs.
- Lead the development of concept notes, project proposals, and donor engagement.
B. Organizational Development
- Harmonize the implementation of the Organizational Strategy and Theory of Change (ToC).
- Support policy development and internal system strengthening.
- Represent KOSHISH at national and international forums for advocacy and networking.
- Facilitate visibility through communication, promotional events, and media relations.
- Support documentation of success stories, case studies, and best practices for advocacy and learning.
C. Technical Support and Capacity Building
- Mentor and guide project coordinators and technical staff.
- Lead training needs assessment and staff development initiatives.
- Support development of manuals, training content & Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
- Provide technical support in behavior change communication and awareness campaigns.
D. Program Administration and Compliance
- Supervise project teams and conduct performance appraisals.
- Ensure compliance with internal control systems, donor requirements, and audit standards.
- Facilitate regular team meetings, planning sessions, and progress reviews.
- Promote cost efficiency and ethical management of resources.
- Uphold and promote anti-corruption and safeguarding policies.
E. Any other task assigned by the organization relevant to your experience and requirements for the projects.
4. Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Humanities, Public Health, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in project and program management, preferably in the development or humanitarian sector.
- Proven experience in mental health, psychosocial support, disability inclusion, or rights-based advocacy is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, manage donor relations, and deliver strategic results.
- Experience in proposal writing and donor reporting.
- Additional training in project management, MHPSS, Disability Inclusion or organizational leadership is a strong asset.
5. Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- High integrity, ethical behavior, and cultural sensitivity.
- Fluency in Nepali and English (spoken and written).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and deliver under pressure.
- Familiarity with government systems and policy advocacy.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office, project management tools, and digital communication platforms.

7. Humanitarian Response
- Be prepared to be a part of a team to work in the interest of the organization based upon the assessment of the tasks identified by the organization including in humanitarian/ emergency response.
8. Safety and Security
- Ensure safety & security during project implementation in collaboration with team.
9. Safeguarding
- Ensure that all children, adults and vulnerable people who are reached by the project are safeguarded to the greatest extent possible.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all aspects of the organizational Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, abuse and harassment policies and associated standards and procedures in collaboration with team/central office/ safeguarding focal person.

- Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate, as per KOSHISH’s organizational policies.
