Aafanta Nepal (KIN NEPAL) is a nationally recognized, not-for-profit non-governmental organization (NGO), established in 2008 in Lalitpur with a mission to combat human trafficking in Nepal by rehabilitating and empowering affected individuals and strengthening communities. The organization is committed to enhancing and safeguarding the human rights, justice, and dignity of women and girls.
Aafanta Nepal aims to transform the lives of rescued and vulnerable women and girls, as well as their communities, through comprehensive interventions including rescue and rehabilitation, psychosocial counseling, capacity building, empowerment, and community reintegration.
Guided by this approach, Aafanta Nepal prioritizes its programmatic focus on Preve ntion, Protection, and Prosecution, while also strengthening coordination, building strategic alliances, and conducting advocacy initiatives to combat human trafficking, gender-based violence, and the sexual exploitation of women in Nepal.
Aafanta Nepal invites applications from dynamic, qualified, and self-motivated Nepali citizens for the following position. Priority will be given to female candidates and survivors of human trafficking and GBV.
Program Director (PD)
Duty Station: Head Office, Lalitpur
Field Requirement: Minimum 60% field visits across operational areas
Reports To: Executive Director
Job Purpose
The Project Director will provide overall strategic, technical, and operational leadership for Aafanta Nepal’s programs. This includes ensuring effective implementation of Safe Home Rehabilitation Services, Border Surveillance Initiatives, and Community Engagement Activities. The position will oversee multi-district operations, supervise multidisciplinary teams, strengthen stakeholder coordination, and ensure survivor-centered, ethical, and compliant program delivery aligned with the organization’s mission to end human trafficking and GBV.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required
Education:
- Master’s degree in Development Studies, Social Work, Gender Studies, Psychology, Management, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of progressive professional experience in NGOs/INGOs, including senior-level leadership roles in programs related to:
- Anti-human trafficking
- Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
- Child Protection
- Demonstrated experience in employee performance management, mentoring, and capacity building of staff to ensure effective program delivery.
- Proven experience in entrepreneurship development, small business promotion, and livelihood support programs, particularly for vulnerable groups or survivors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Excellent facilitation skills, with the ability to lead trainings, workshops, and high-level stakeholder engagements effectively.
- Strong expertise in entrepreneurship development, business coaching, market linkage, and livelihood promotion, especially for survivor-led enterprises.
- Proven experience managing multi-district and donor-funded programs.
- Strong leadership in supervising multidisciplinary and field-based teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in survivor-centered and trauma-informed care and rehabilitation approaches.
- In-depth understanding of human trafficking, GBV, migration, child protection, and safeguarding standards in Nepal.
- Excellent proposal writing skills, including successful development of funding proposals.
- Proven ability in donor cultivation and relationship management at both national and international levels.
- Strong advocacy, networking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience coordinating with government agencies, NGOs/INGOs, and development partners.
- Excellent planning, reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to integrate Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles into program design and implementation.
- High level of integrity, accountability, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within diverse, cross-cultural team environments.
- Strong commitment to social justice, survivor empowerment, and the vision, mission, and values of Aafanta Nepal.
