About Samriddha Pahad

Samriddha Pahad is a development organization dedicated to promoting inclusive economic growth, cultural heritage preservation, and sustainable tourism in Nepal, particularly in mountain and rural regions. The organization works closely with local communities, governments, and stakeholders to strengthen livelihoods, enhance market linkages, and preserve traditional knowledge and practices. Through its programs, Samriddha Pahad emphasizes community participation, innovation, and long-term sustainability, ensuring that development interventions are locally driven and impactful.

Samriddha Pahad is currently implementing the “Empowering Cultural Heritage and Opportunities for Young Innovators” project, funded by the European Union, in the Kangchenjunga region of Taplejung district. The project aims to actively engage local youth in documenting, preserving, and promoting cultural and natural heritage while creating pathways for livelihood opportunities through sustainable tourism and creative industries. It adopts participatory and innovative approaches, digital storytelling and creative production to strengthen cultural identity, enhance community resilience, and foster youth-led development initiatives.

To ensure effective documentation, knowledge sharing, and visibility of project achievements, Samriddha Pahad seeks a Senior Knowledge Management and Communication Officer who will lead the documentation, communication, and dissemination of project results, learning, and impact in line with EU visibility and communication requirements.

1. Position: Senior Officer- Knowledge Management and Communications

Organization: Samriddha Pahad

Project: EU-funded Empowering Cultural Heritage and Opportunities for Young Innovators (ECHO for Youth) project

Duty Station: Kathmandu with occasional travel to project location in Taplejung

Reports to: Business Development, Impact and Communications Advisor

Contract Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension. 

2. Overview of the Position

The Senior Officer - Knowledge Management and Communication will be responsible for capturing, organizing, and disseminating knowledge, learning, and communication outputs from EU-funded project implemented by Samriddha Pahad.

The position will ensure high-quality documentation of project processes, stories of change, lessons learned, and communication products that highlight project impact while ensuring compliance with EU communication and visibility guidelines.

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1 Knowledge Management and Documentation

  • Develop and implement a Knowledge Management and Communication Plan for EU-funded projects.
  • Systematically document project processes, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Develop knowledge products including:
    • Case studies
    • Learning briefs
    • Stories of change
    • Project documentation materials
  • Maintain an organized digital archive of project reports, photos, videos, and communication materials.
  • Support internal learning and knowledge sharing within the organization.

3.2 Communication and Visibility

  • Ensure compliance with EU communication and visibility guidelines across all project materials.
  • Develop high-quality communication products including:
    • Success stories and human-interest stories
    • Photo essays and visual stories
    • Short videos and multimedia documentation
    • Infographics and fact sheets
  • Support regular updates for organizational website, and social media platforms.
  • Highlight the impact of EU-funded initiatives in strengthening community resilience, youth engagement, and sustainable development.

3.3 Field Documentation and Storytelling

  • Conduct field visits to document project activities, community engagement, and outcomes
  • Capture stories of youth engagement, cultural heritage preservation, and community resilience.
  • Collect photos, videos, and testimonials from beneficiaries and stakeholders.
  • Ensure ethical communication practices, including informed consent and respectful representation of communities.

3.4 Learning and Knowledge Sharing

  • Facilitate documentation of project innovations and learning.
  • Support the organization of learning events, reflection workshops, and dissemination activities.
  • Produce learning briefs and knowledge products to share with stakeholders, partners, and donors.

3.5 Reporting Support

  • Support preparation of donor reports, particularly sections related to communication, visibility, case studies, and impact stories.
  • Compile communication outputs and documentation required for EU reporting requirements.

3.6 Coordination

  • Work closely with project teams, technical staff, and management to capture project achievements and lessons.
  • Coordinate with program teams to ensure timely documentation of key activities and milestones.
  • Support strategic communication efforts led by the Advisor – Business Development, Impact and Communications.

4. Deliverables

The Knowledge Management and Communication Officer will be expected to produce:

  • Knowledge Management and Communication Plan
  • Monthly communication outputs (stories, visual documentation, updates)
  • Case studies and human-interest stories
  • Photo and multimedia documentation archive
  • Learning briefs and documentation of best practices
  • Communication materials aligned with EU/ECHO visibility requirements

5. Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s (Master’s preferable) degree in:

  • Communications
  • Journalism
  • Development Studies
  • Social Sciences
  • or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in knowledge management, communication, or documentation in development or humanitarian sectors.
  • Experience working with EU-funded or donor-funded projects is highly desirable.
  • Experience in storytelling, content development, and multimedia documentation.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English and Nepali.
  • Strong storytelling and documentation skills.
  • Ability to produce communication materials and visual content.
  • Experience managing social media and digital communication platforms.
  • Basic photography, videography, and graphic design skills are an advantage.
  • Familiarity with EU visibility guidelines is an asset.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to ethical communication, safeguarding, and organizational values.
