Panchtara Yuwa Samrakhak Manch (PTYSM) is a non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian and development organization registered with the District Administration Office, Jajarkot, and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council. Established in 1997, PTYSM is run by dedicated young development professionals and social workers with extensive experience in rural development. Operating in Karnali Province, the organization focuses on improving food security, nutrition, livelihoods, education, disaster risk reduction (DRR), humanitarian response, protection, and disability inclusion for marginalized communities. PTYSM’s mission is rooted in equity, inclusion, and resilience, with a commitment to ensuring that women, children, youths, disadvantaged groups, and persons with disabilities benefit from its interventions.

PTYSM has been implementing the SHAHAYATRA-III project in partnership with Save the Children in Chhedagad Municipality of Jajarkot district. This integrated project includes education, child protection, child rights governance, sexual reproductive health rights, and climate change and green jobs interventions. The goal is to enhance the quality of education, protection, and child rights, with a particular focus on children from the most deprived and marginalized communities. In this context, PTYSM invites applications from competent and self-motivated Nepali candidates for the position of Pedagogical Resource Person (PRP)- Education on a full-time basis.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Pedagogical Resource Person (PRP)- Education is entrusted with the responsibility of providing Teachers Professional Development (TPD) of early grade teachers, including those in Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD). This role involves offering on-the-spot coaching and mentoring to teachers, conducting observations in classrooms, facilitating mobile meetings, organizing workshops on effective teaching, and learning techniques, and managing the coordination of coaching and mentoring activities in collaboration with the municipality. Additionally, the PRP will contribute to innovation in schools, oversee performance-based awards for teachers and schools, and execute other duties as required within the framework of the SHAHAYATRA- III project. This role necessitates close coordination with the Project Coordinator-Education, Project Manager, and the SCI Project Coordinator-SAHAYATRA III.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Report to: Project Manager (Technically reports to Project Coordinator-Education)

Staff reporting to this post: Field officers- Education.

Budget Responsibilities: N/A

Role Dimensions: The Pedagogical Resource Person-PRP will closely collaborate with the Program Director/Manager, Project Coordinator-Education, and the Education projects team/staff to ensure effective support in teachers’ professional development.

KEY responsibilities:

  • Develop and submit monthly action plan and progress report to the concern municipality and supervisors. Visit a minimum of 8 to 10 schools per month, especially focusing on ECCD to grade 3, to provide support to teachers in teaching and learning.
  • Assist teachers in developing lesson plans and creating learning materials, with a focus Integrated Curriculum.
  • Ensure schools conduct continuous assessment based on the Integrated Curriculum.
  • Provide support to teachers on remedial teaching, grade teaching, multi-grade teaching, teaching without violence, classroom management, and implementing the curriculum and teacher's guide.
  • Conduct surveys to identify teachers' capacity development needs and provide coaching and mentoring accordingly.
  • Facilitate to concern municipal to develop teachers’ professional development plan and provide technical support to implement accordingly. 
  • Facilitate and support teachers and parents in continuing children's learning during the pandemic and normal circumstances through home schooling, school at home, and tole education.
  • Support early grade teachers in conducting Continuous Assessment System (CAS) based on the Integrated Curriculum.
  • Assist teachers in utilizing digital platforms for the teaching-learning process.
  • Write and publish case stories and news stories highlighting program achievements, good practices, and challenges.
  • Participate in various capacity-building activities at the municipality level and beyond.
  • Perform other duties related to the municipality and the SHAHAYATRA-III project team as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education (Master's degree preferred)
  • Proficiency in training facilitation, coaching, and mentoring
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching, teacher training facilitation, or related educational work
  • Skills in developing and utilizing teaching-learning materials
  • Friendly and helpful demeanor

  • Sound knowledge on Education and Child Rights Policies.
  • Knowledge and skill on Project Management and training facilitation. 
  • Report and proposal and case studies writing skill.
  • Presentation, facilitation, and negotiation.
  • Very good skills and knowledge in documentation and reporting in English and Nepali.  
  • Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent presentation and training facilitation skill and knowledge.
  • Stress management skills.
  • Time management and communication skills.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills (team building and teamwork) with key stakeholders at project and Palika level.
