Introduction:

The clerk provides the Defence Section’s principal interface with Nepal Government Ministries, other Diplomatic Missions and is responsible to the DA/AMA/MLO and SO Admin for the day-to-day management/administration of all MLO matters to enable BGN to carry out its core functions in support of HQ Regional Command. It is therefore essential that the clerk has the ability to develop good working relationship with GoN Ministries/Departments and other agencies which the Defence Section has regular contacts with. In addition, as a primary Defence section interface with British Embassy and other UK Departments personnel, the MLO clerk, should have the ability to work proactively, independently and make decisions on behalf of his/her chain of command.

Job description:

  • Liaison with the Nepalese Government Ministries and other Departments on a regular basis.
  • Acquisition of clearances, visas, and road permits to India.
  • Acquisition of Nepalese visas and other permits.
  • Management of adventure training/expedition (to Nepal from the UK Armed Forces) records
  • Acquisition of import/export permits from the relevant Government Ministries/Departments for BGN and GWT(N).
  • Acquisition of authority from relevant Government Ministries/Departments for the purchase/sale/disposal/registration of MOD and private blue plated vehicles and the local disposal of MoD Stores.

What you will be doing:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the organisation of key Embassy events (including Remembrance Service & Queen’s Birthday Party), official visits and other invitations to and from the Defence Section.
  • Management of office stationery/machinery (including local purchase) and updating of relevant instructions and Publications for Defence Section.
  • Managing diaries and organising meetings, appointments, and invitations for Defence Attaché.
  • Assist Nepal Army personnel/dependants nominated for UK courses and perform their clerical duties including UK visas.
  • Maintaining Defence Section gifts and hospitability book as per the MOD policy.
  • Perform other clerical duties as directed.
  • Stand in for the EO(L) in his/her absence.

Applicant should have good written/ spoken English and Nepali language skills. Proven experience, qualifications, and training is preferable for this role to deliver the job responsibility effectively and efficiently. You will be assessed on your IT skills through a Practical Assessment and English Language skills to qualify for interviews during the sifting and selection process.
