FHI 360, an international non-governmental organization (INGO), is seeking applications from highly qualified and dynamic candidates for the position of Inclusion and Governance Director for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Civil Society: Mutual Accountability Project (CS:MAP) in Nepal. This position is contingent upon availability of funding.

Inclusion and Governance Director 

The Inclusion and Governance Director is responsible for overseeing a sub-team focused on supporting inclusive governance in 57 municipalities. S/he will work closely with the CS:MAP team including the CS:MAP Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) unit to strengthen effective inclusive governance and support outcome mapping. The Inclusion and Governance Director will be based in Kathmandu and report to the Chief of Party. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Carry out regular strategic analysis and planning, iterative review and development of case studies in collaboration with the CS: MAP team and partners
  • Support the CS: MAP MEL team to carry out outcome mapping 
  • Engage with CS: MAP external partners who are supporting leadership for more inclusive governance
  • Work with appropriate project teams, partners, consultants, and contractors to undertake inclusive governance analysis as necessary
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant government institutions, civil society and media organizations
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and other events related to inclusion and governance, and keep CS:MAP staff apprised of new developments and best practices
  • Contribute to written project performance reports and ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of project interventions focused on promoting inclusive governance
  • Draft and review reports as necessary.

Minimum Requirements 

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • A minimum of 10 years of gender, equity and social inclusion (GESI)-related experience in leading interventions and working in teams for more inclusive governance and rights protections 
  • Solid knowledge of the Nepalese civil society sector 
  • In-depth knowledge of social and political norms shaping civic participation in Nepal from a GESI perspective
  • Demonstrated capacity to carry out and report high-level social and political analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively with a team
  • Excellent Nepali and English speaking and writing ability
  • Travel outside Kathmandu valley particularly Banke district and other project target sites in Western and earthquake-affected districts may be required.
