The Centre for Mental Health and Counselling – Nepal (CMC-Nepal) is a national level non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to promoting mental health and psychosocial wellbeing. We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Field Coordinator cum Psychologist in the 'Empowering Inclusion and Enhancing Accessibility for Person with Disabilities' project. 

The project is jointly implemented by CMC-Nepal and HRENDC in Chhayanath Rara Municipality and Khatyad Rural Municipality in Mugu district. It is funded and supported by Felm-Nepal. The project seeks to enhance the well-being of communities in the target locations by promoting social and economic inclusion, empowering them to lead transformative change toward justice, equitable, and sustainable societies. This project further contributes in building aaccess to inclusive quality education.

It therefore seeks candidates for the following positions:

1. Field Coordinator cum Psychologist (FCP)- 1 full-time position, based in Gamgadhi, Mugu with field visits to project locations 

Position Overview: The FCP is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting project activities, as well as coordinating and collaborating with local partners, local government, Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), Felm-Nepal, and other concerned stakeholders for the effective implementation of the project. The Field Coordinator cum Psychologist is expected to provide technical and project management support to the project team members in the implementation of project activities at field level. 

Duties and responsibilities of the position:

  • Collaborate with the project team, including partner staff to develop plans aligned with the project document, ensuring activities are implemented on time and within set objectives
  • Lead the overall implementation of the project ensuring effectiveness and quality delivery of the project interventions
  • Provide training and supervision to the teachers, health service providers, community leaders, CBOs on student psychosocial counselling, basic psychosocial support, disability inclusion and child protection 
  • Establish and operationalize school-based counselling units
  • Support in identification of children with functional limitations and provide direct psychosocial support and counselling to children
  • Mobilize and manage project staff efficiently, ensuring a cohesive and motivated project team
  • Support to the team members to address the challenges related to the project implementation that included but not limited to planning, implementation, data/information recording and reporting in close coordination with National Expert and ED. 
  • Ensure that procedures and supporting documents are properly reviewed and approved, budget utilization is regularly tracked and budget is effectively utilized
  • Ensure the organizational safeguarding, PSEAH, and anti-corruption principles are mainstreamed in all intervention and functions of the project
  • Collaborate with the MEAL Counterpart to ensure inclusive and gender sensitive MEAL mechanism in the project.
  • Extend coordination and collaboration with local partner, local government, provincial government, Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), Felm-Nepal and other concerned stakeholders for the effective implementation of the project

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology or Counselling Psychology or Student Counselling from recognized university with least 3 years’ experience in school based psychosocial intervention and community based MHPSS work
  • Having strong competence in project management, leadership, evaluation/ implementation research networking and coordination  
  • Practical and strong background in supervising project team members in mental health and psychosocial perspective will be advantage for the post.  
  • Having good comprehension and learning attitude in mental health, preferably in child and adolescent mental health, psychosocial interventions and disability inclusion
  • Experience in coordination with multi-stakeholders (GOs/I/NGOs/OPDs) for the effectiveness of implementation of the project activities and its upscaling and sustainability
  • Good report writing, documentation and communication skills in both English and Nepali language
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships within and outside the organization
  • Willing to be based in Mugu district, remote location of Karnali Province and travel in the project areas
