Our mission at Medic Mobile is to improve health in underserved communities using mobile technology. We carry out this mission with 39 partners in 21 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the US. Our job is to increase coverage for health care during pregnancy and childbirth, increase stock availability for essential medicines, protect the vaccine cold chain, increase early detection and treatment for infectious disease, and increase support for remote health workers and families. The Medic Mobile team is a mix of designers, product and project managers, public health professionals, researchers, and software developers based out of our headquarters in San Francisco and regional offices in Africa and Asia.

District m-Health Project Officer- Baglung

Location: Baglung (with occasional travel to Kathmandu); travel to field implementation sites within Baglung will be required as demanded by the job responsibilities

Salary: Competitive based on local NGO scales

Position Description

The District m-Health Project Officer will support the scale up of our ongoing m-Health project in Baglung, Nepal in partnership with District (Public) Health Office, Baglung and One Heart World Wide Nepal. The goal of the project is to strengthen the linkages between community and health facility-based services in maternal and child health in Baglung through m-Health based monitoring and support systems. The position will report directly to Nepal Country Lead for Medic Mobile and will be working closely with the District (Public) Health Office in Baglung. Job Duties:

â—      Support implementation of the m-health project in Baglung

o      Support system testing and installation

o      Develop detailed implementation plan including training plan

o      Define training approaches, and develop training materials

o      Supervise and deliver training and information sessions

o      Run user testing sessions throughout the project's pilot phase to ensure user issues are addressed

o      Coordinate logistics and daily activities in all program locations

â—      Build sound relationships with District (Public) Health Office, District Development Committee and other stakeholders in order to maintain program schedule and achieve program deliverables at the district level

â—      Provide technical support to DHO and focal persons with special focus on capacity building on data management, data analysis, results oriented programming, monitoring, and evaluation methods and principles, and requirements of relevant donors to ensure compliance

â—      Work with field implementers of the m-health project at the district as well as VDC levels to ensure:

o      Timely collection and transmission of reliable monitoring data

o      Joint analysis and common understanding of the implication of the monitoring data

o      Development of appropriate actions to address these implications

â—      Supervise trainers and/or any other support staff

â—      Conduct frequent field visits to facilitate the implementation process, data collection, and follow up

â—      Prepare regular project status reports for internal documentation and dissemination as well as those required by the funding agency/ies

â—      Perform other job duties as needed from time to time including but not limited to: coordination of local travel for Medic Mobile staff, coordination of field visits by donor institutions, reports/project status summaries as needed on a priority basis

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

â—      Bachelor degree in public health, social sciences or management with experience in field implementation of public health or other social development programs

â—      Commitment of one year

â—      Tech savvy; ability to learn to use new technology proficiently

â—      Excellent oral and written communication skills

â—      Ability to work well independently and with a team, and manage multiple tasks

â—      Ability to work under high pressure, meet deadlines, monitor and follow-up on pending matters under minimum supervision

â—      Fluent in both English and Nepali language, both speaking and reading/writing

â—      Ability to live and work in a rural setting

â—      Ability to travel by foot to remote parts of Baglung

â—      Must have current, valid permit to work in Nepal

Desired:

â—      Previous experience in m-health

â—      Previous experience writing reports for major donor institutions such as DFID, USAID and AusAid.
