Maiti Nepal, like any other Non-Government Organization (NGO) in Nepal, operates through a general agreement with Social Welfare Council, Government of Nepal that allows it to implement programs to prevent human trafficking by reaching out to the community, particularly children and women, by raising the awareness level of communities and extending life skills so that children and women are not trafficked into different forms of abuse including exploitation.

Position: Community Medicine Assistant (CMA) and Staff Nurse
Working Hours: Full-time
Role Requirement: Due to the sensitive nature of the role, which involves working closely with women and girls, only women candidates will be considered for this position.

Number of candidates required: 2 CMAs and 1 Staff Nurse

Maiti Nepal is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and empowering vulnerable women and children, especially those affected by trafficking and exploitation. We are looking for a qualified and compassionate CMA and Staff Nurse to join our team and contribute to our health care and rehabilitation services.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Patient Care & Clinical Services
- Provide direct patient care by assessing patient needs, administering medications and treatments, and monitoring vital signs.
- Offer trauma-informed nursing care tailored to rescued women and girls, addressing both physical and psychological effects of trafficking and abuse.
- Carry out initial screening and history-taking for newly rescued women and girls upon arrival.
- Perform health screenings focused on reproductive health, nutrition, stress-related conditions, and other common issues while receiving the rescued survivors, and as and when necessary.
- Diagnose potential mental health issues, including self-harming behaviors, among rescued individuals.
- Take women, girls, and children (including infants in the baby room) to the hospital when necessary.
- Provide medications to women, girls, and children as prescribed and manage their treatment adherence.
B. Health Education & Counseling
- Educate patients (women, girls, and children) on personal health, hygiene, and trauma-informed self-care strategies.
- Offer awareness sessions tailored to the psychological and physical recovery of survivors.
C. Documentation & Coordination
- Maintain accurate and updated health records of all residents (women, girls, and children).
- Document patient information, including medical history, treatment plans, vital signs, and observations.
- Receive shift handover reports from the Sister/Nurse of the previous shift and provide a detailed handover to the next shift staff.
- Coordinate with:
- Government hospitals (for lab tests, specialist referrals, etc.)
- The shelter department is to ensure synchronized communication and follow-up on the health status of residents
- Submit daily health status updates of rescued women or girls to the line manager.
D. Infection Prevention & Safety
- Ensure patient rooms and the clinic are clean and safe to prevent infection.
- Maintain clinic safety by ensuring medicines and sharp objects are not accessible to residents.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to health service delivery.
Required Qualifications:
- Certificate level in Nursing (PCL Nursing) and CMA from a recognized institution.
- Registered with the Nepal Nursing Council or the Nepal Health Professional Council.
- Minimum 1 year of work experience in a similar setting (preferably in NGOs/INGOs or rehabilitation centers).
- Ability to deal with trauma-affected individuals with sensitivity and empathy.
- Good documentation and basic computer skills.
- Willingness to work in flexible hours, including emergencies.
- Knowledge of gender-based violence and trafficking issues is a plus.
