ABOUT THE ROLE
The Communications Associate will play a key role in helping us tell the story of our work. This position supports the creation and distribution of content that advances our mission, engages diverse audiences, and strengthens the visibility of our work across multiple platforms.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role that blends storytelling, content creation, visual media management, and administrative support. The Communications Associate will collaborate across teams—whether in Nepal or with the U.S.-based team—helping ensure smooth internal communication, accurate record-keeping, and consistent, inspiring external messaging.
This position is ideal for someone eager to grow their skills in nonprofit communications, content creation, and organizational storytelling, while contributing to work that puts children, women, and families at the center.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications Associate will be mainly responsible for overseeing the following areas of responsibility:
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Support the collection and creation of high-quality content (photos, videos, stories) that showcases our work and impact.
- Conduct interviews with students, staff, families, and community members to develop human-interest stories, blog posts, and reports.
- Draft and edit written materials including blog posts, newsletters, and internal updates.
- Collaborate on social media content by contributing ideas, photos, captions, and stories that align with organizational goals.
- Assist with developing presentations, reports, and communication materials for donors, partners, and government stakeholders.
Visual Media Management
- Serve as a point-of-contact for photography and videography needs across the organization.
- Capture and edit photos and videos of events, programs, and day-to-day moments, following organizational guidelines and consent processes.
- Organize, store, and maintain a digital archive of visual media assets in an accessible, secure system.
Communications Support & Administration
- Assist in preparing press materials, fact sheets, brochures, and reports.
- Manage content and administration for Kopila Buds program.
- Support internal communication processes by coordinating with program teams to ensure timely sharing of updates and materials.
- Help translate and edit documents from Nepali to English and vice versa, as needed.
- Contribute to program documentation and reporting, including summaries of events, workshops, and training.
- Provide logistical support for communications initiatives, such as coordinating media visits, managing photo consents, and liaising with contractors or vendors.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build strong relationships with team members across departments to ensure communication needs are met effectively.
- Act as a bridge between program teams in Nepal and the communications and development teams in the U.S., ensuring stories and updates flow smoothly across the organization.
- Stay informed about campus events and program activities to proactively identify storytelling opportunities.
