Civic Forum for Sustainable Development (Civic Forum) is one of the leading members based Nepalese non-governmental organization (NGO) based at the Kavrepalanchok district of Bagamati Province. It is a pioneer, an autonomous, non-profit making, non-racial and non-political, non-governmental organization established with the prime aim of contributing to environment friendly sustainable development. Civic Forum has been registered since March 16, 2004 (Registration Number 785/2060/61) in accordance with section 4 of Associations Registration Act, 1977 of Nepal in District Administration Office (DAO) Kavrepalanchok under Government of Nepal (GoN), Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and has also been affiliated to the Social Welfare Council (SWC) since March 26, 2004 under section 13 of the Social Welfare Act, 1992.

Introduction of Civic Forum:

Civic Forum for Sustainable Development (Civic Forum) is one of the leading members based Nepalese non-governmental organization (NGO) based at the Kavrepalanchok district. It is a pioneer, an autonomous, non-profit making, non-racial and non-political, non-governmental organization established with the prime aim of environmental conservation, social justice as well as innovative environmental friendly sustainable development and marginalized poorest of the poor people natural resource management. Civic Forum is registered at Government of Nepal (GoN), Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), District Administration Office (DAO) at Kavrepalanchok in March 16, 2004 (Registration Number 785/2060/61) on pursuant to section 4 of the Organization Registration Act. 1977 and is also affiliation at Social Welfare Council (SWC) on March 26, 2004 on pursuant to section 13 of the Social welfare Act.1992 and NGO Federation of Nepal.

DETAILED JOB DECSRIPTION/REQUIREMENTS:

1. Project Background:

Chaurideurali is one of the rural municipalities of Kavre district, which is located 80 km east of Kathmandu in a rural setting have low access to the healthy WASH environment due to the lack of the toilets, drinking water and good hygiene. The Project 'Sanitation Trailblazer: Resilient Children in Nepal (STRCN)' was recently implemented in schools of Chaurideurali with the prime motive to enhance DRR and WASH behaviors in schools and to support rural municipality to incorporate in planning process. However, even after the satisfactory completion of the project, schools are still lacking the capacity for sustainable management of the WASH facilities. WaterAid Nepal (WAN) has planned to work further in 38 schools of Chaurideurali Rural Municipality to encourage children and schools by developing the healthy learning environment with development of healthy WASH environment including construction of Inclusive WASH facilities in schools by increasing the capacity for sustaining the WASH management facilities in schools. Also, the project has planned to train students, school authorities and management committees to promote and enhance capacity in WASH resilience, sustainable WASH and sensitizing the rural municipality for adopting WASH in school procedure including WASH resilience characteristics under the project 'Foundation for the Future (FFTF)' through partner organization ‘Civic forum for sustainable development (Civic Forum)’ with the planned project period of July, 2022 till June, 2024.

2. Objective of the project:

The objective of project are:

  • Developing access of schools to the inclusive WASH facilities and increasing their ability to sustain the wash facilities.
  • Encouraging WASH related behaviour change in students, parents, and teachers after the installation of inclusive WASH facilities.
  • Encouraging schools to follow WASH plans along with WASH Resilience Characteristics.
  • Changes and building capacity in children, teachers, parent teacher associations, school management committees, Rural Municipality members and bringing awareness among staffs on WASH in school procedure including WASH resilience characteristics to be prepared for future disaster.

3. Scope of work:

The trainer or facilitator are required for the following different trainings: 

I. Train child club members on WASH in school procedure including WASH resilience characteristics.

II. Train child club members on importance of WASH and their leadership roles in WASH related behaviour change.

III. Train schools and management committee on WASH in school procedure including WASH resilience characteristics.

IV. Sensitize SMC/PTA on water quality and waste management.

V. Train and sensitization to local municipal government representatives on WASH in School Procedure including WASH resilience characteristics in schools.

VI. Technical support to Rural Municipality to incorporate WASH in Schools Procedure in their planning process (includes Review existing practices).

VII. Training to focal teachers and school health nurse on MHM package and roll out the package in respective schools for creating MHM friendly environment in schools.

VIII. Training to technical unit of RM on technical design aspects of inclusive WASH facilities in school.

IX. Train community operation and maintenance workers and school administration including school support staff for construction, operation and management of WASH facilities in schools.

After completion of the above mentioned training, following are the expected outcome:

  • School developing their access to the inclusive WASH facilities and increasing their ability to sustain the wash facilities.
  • Changes that will be observed in the Students, Parents, and Teachers after the installation of inclusive WASH facilities.
  • School following WASH plans along with WASH Resilience Characteristics.
  • Changes and building capacity in children, teachers, parent teacher associations, school management committees, Rural Municipality members and the staff aware on WASH in school procedure including WASH resilience characteristics to be prepared for future disaster.

The trainer/facilitator is required to share the training materials and course content beforehand with Civic Forum and WAN team and should be open regarding needed/ relevant adjustment to course content as per need.

3. Target Group:

  • The target group for WASH in school procedure including WASH resilience characteristics are child club members, teachers and management committee of schools of Chaurideurali RM, and local municipal government representatives of Chaurideurali RM.
  • The target group for water quality and waste management at schools are SMC/PTA members of schools of Chaurideurali RM.
  • The target group for importance of WASH and roles in WASH related behaviour change are child club members of schools of Chaurideurali RM.
  • Target group for construction, operations and management/ maintenance of WASH facilities in schools are community operations and maintenance workers and school support staff.
  • The target group for training on technical design aspects of inclusive WASH facilities in schools are technical unit of RM.
  • The target group for training on MHM package and roll out package in respective schools for creating MHM friendly environment in schools are focal teachers and school health nurse.

4. Deliverables:

Based on content training materials engaged different trainer/facilitator would deliver training on above mentioned different topics.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

The trainer/ facilitator is required to prepare event report on training given and required to share training materials with Civic Forum.

6. Terms of Payment:

100% of the contract amount will be paid within 7 days of the successful completion of the training, and submission and acceptance of the recommendation report from trainer/facilitator by WAN and Civic Forum.

7. Eligibility and Criteria for Selection:

Earlier independent assignments of a similar kind of deliverables. Assignments with WAN would be considered as an additional qualification.

8. Orientation/Workshop/Training period:

The training period will be shared with the trainer as per requirement.

9. Necessary Documents:

  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Citizenship certificate Copy.
  • Academic qualification certificate Copy.
  • Certificate of having received training in the relevant subject Copy.
  • Relevant activities successfully completed recommendation letter Copy.
