BACKGROUND
Yuwalaya is a youth-led civil society organisation based in Lalitpur, Nepal, working since 2013 to promote the rights, dignity, and sustainable livelihoods of marginalised girls, young women, and women workers. As an implementing partner of Oxfam Nepal's Valuing Women's Work (VWW) Gender Justice project, Yuwalaya has deep community roots in Lalitpur's domestic worker communities and a strong track record of rights-based advocacy, women's organising, and livelihood programming.
The Skills for Dignified Work project is a 8-month initiative funded by Oxfam In Nepal (OIN) targeting 25 young women (aged 18–35) from low-income, Dalit, Janajati, migrant, and other marginalised households engaged in domestic and informal labour in Lalitpur.
PURPOSE
The baseline assessment serves three major interconnected purposes;
- Understand the current condition of targeted women participants across project indicators.
- Mapping of the landscape of private sector employers, homeowners and digital job platforms in Lalitpur’s domestic services market to identify partnership opportunity and their preferences and current practices.
- Assess the current and projected demand for specific vocational skills in Lalitpur's labor market, including domestic services, home services, and other growth sectors, and identify employment opportunities, employer requirements, availability of CTEVT-certified courses, and potential pathways to dignified employment for project participants.
SCOPE OF WORK
The consultant will undertake the following tasks, in close coordination with Programme Officer and M&E cum Documentation Officer.
- Inception and Tools Development
- Mapping of Private Sector and Employer
- Market Demand and Skills Need Analysis
- Data Analysis and Reporting
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master's degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Economics, Gender Studies, Public Policy, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience conducting social research, baseline assessments, or evaluations for NGO, INGO, or development agency projects in Nepal
- Demonstrated experience in women's livelihoods, labour market, or vocational training research including market demand analysis or labour market assessments
