Introduction:
Assistant Veteran Support Officer (Records & Settlement), GVAC Dharan supports Gurkha Advice Centre (GVAC) Dharan’s mission by carrying out duties and responsibilities of Assistant Veteran Support Officer (Records). BGN Veteran Services’ mission is to deliver post-retirement administrative services (administer pension payment; and update, maintain & safeguards of records) and provide welfare support on UK settlement related matters to Gurkha veterans and their eligible dependants in order to fulfil BGN tasks.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description/Responsibilities:
Process requests from ex-servicemen/eligible dependants on Kindred Roll changes (registration of birth, adoption, disability, marriage, divorce/development and correction of name/ Date of Birth (DOB) of dependants).
Assist Investigating Officer (IO) for Family Details, Certificate of Service and Service Details requests from veterans and eligible widows.
Assist in processing of death reports of Gurkha ex-servicemen/widows/eligible dependants/ pensioners as soon as received.
Inform outcome of the applicants’ requests and pass on documents issued by Records Office as soon as they are received.
Check and ensure applicants’ documents issued by Nepali government authorities are genuine and reliably verifiable.
Make sure hardcopy documents are securely stored and Data Protection Act 1998 is adhered to at all times when handling them.
Support IO GVAC on his/her tasks and stand-in for him/her as well as other VSOs when required.
Any other tasks commensurate with the grade.
Assist with 1:1 consultation and filling up of Visa Applications and Registration forms and fast track National Insurance Number.
Respond to e-mail and telephone enquiries from customers as well as from stakeholder partners.
Provide advice to Gurkha veterans on visa processes and counselling.
Any other tasks commensurate with the grade.

Work Experience:
Minimum 2 years of work experience in relevant field as described in job description.
Very good knowledge of Nepali identity documentation and Knowledge of Gurkha Settlement is preferable for this role to deliver the job responsibility effectively and efficiently.
Qualification:
Academic – Higher Secondary (+2 or A level)
Technical – Proficient in MS Office especially on Word, Excel and Power Point
English – Good Written and Spoken
Nepali – Good Written and Spoken
You will be assessed on your English language skills, MS Office expertise and other job-related knowledge through a practical assessment to qualify for interviews during the sifting and selection process.

Salary 69,207.00 NPR per month (Permanent).
Gratuity after completing 3 years’ service.
