Background
The Story Kitchen (TSK) is a not-for-profit-distributing company registered in September 2012 under the Companies Act, 2006 Nepal. We envision a society, where every woman's voice is heard, her existence is accepted, her work is accounted, and her contribution is valued. Our mission is to create a safe space for herstories and amplify the experiences of women in our history. We are driven by the passionate belief that sharing and listening to the stories of women can build the movement and it helps to ignite social change. In short, TSK is a space to amplify Herstory.
TSK is seeking a Program Coordinator (PC) who is deeply committed to feminist values, advocates for social justice, and brings strong experience working with local governments, women’s groups, socially excluded populations, and marginalized communities, particularly in empowerment, leadership development, and community engagement. Reporting to the Program Lead and working closely with the Senior Management Committee, the PC will lead the implementation of the Samaan Aawaaj project, a 3-year initiative in partnership with the Coady Institute. The project aims to strengthen inclusive governance, uphold human rights, and promote gender equality in Nepal, with a focus on Nawalpur, Bardiya, and Surkhet districts.This initiative contributes directly to TSK’s broader mission of advancing intersectional feminist leadership and fostering the growth of feminist movements in Nepal.

Some major responsibilities of Program Coordinator (PC) but not limited will include:
- Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of TSK’s projects that promote an intersectional feminist agenda and amplify the voices of marginalized communities.
- Identify marginalized and socially excluded groups within local government units and develop effective outreach strategies to engage and empower women and girls from these communities as potential leaders.
- Organize and coordinate feminist leadership workshops, intergenerational dialogues, learning exchanges, vision-building exercises, conferences, and trainings, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with program objectives.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with local government bodies, feminist organizations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration, maximize synergies, and ensure effective communication.
- Develop and implement annual work plans, ensuring efficient and timely execution of program activities in line with organizational goals.
- Monitor and evaluate program progress, making data-driven adjustments as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
- Travel to project districts at least once every two months to oversee field activities, engage with local partners, and ensure implementation is on track.
- Handle administrative functions including scheduling, preparing materials, and maintaining organized records and documentation.
- Oversee the efficient allocation and use of program resources, including budgets, materials, and logistical needs.
- Coordinate with facilitators, consultants, and resource persons to ensure successful program delivery.
- Support the alignment of program activities with TSK’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Lead the preparation of program documentation, including donor reports, progress updates, and event-based reports.
- Collaborate with the Program Lead in the development of TSK’s publications and knowledge products.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in coordinating programs or managing projects within feminist, rights-based, or community development contexts.
- Hands-on experience in organizing workshops, capacity-building sessions, community engagement activities, and advocacy campaigns.
- Proven ability to work with marginalized groups, especially women, girls, and socially excluded communities.
- Strong skills in project coordination, communication, and team collaboration.
- Solid understanding of intersectional feminism, social inclusion, and grassroots organizing.
- Proficiency in English for reporting, along with Nepali typing skills.
- Ability to lead with initiative while working effectively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with Nepal’s feminist movement history and approaches to movement building.
- Deep commitment to feminist values, social justice, and The Story Kitchen’s mission.

Some major responsibilities of District Coordinator but not limited will include:
- Support the implementation of the Samaan Aawaaj project at the community level, ensuring alignment with TSK’s feminist and rights-based approach.
- Identify and engage with local women’s groups, youth networks, and marginalized communities to facilitate their meaningful participation in project activities.
- Organize and coordinate field-level events such as leadership training, community dialogues, public forums, and outreach campaigns.
- Build relationships with local government officials, civil society actors, and community leaders to strengthen collaboration and promote inclusive governance.
- Collect data and community feedback, monitor field activities, and regularly report progress, challenges, and success stories to the Program Coordinator.
- Maintain accurate records of all field activities, including participant lists, attendance sheets, field notes, and event documentation.
- Ensure logistical and operational support for field programs, including venue coordination, material distribution, and travel arrangements.
- Facilitate follow-up visits and continuous engagement with participants to ensure sustainability and local ownership of initiatives.
- Assist in preparing field reports, case studies, and documentation for donor reporting and organizational learning.
- Uphold TSK’s core values in all field activities, including respect for diversity, dignity, and rights of all individuals, especially from socially excluded and marginalized backgrounds.
- Travel regularly within assigned project districts (Nawalpur, Bardiya, Surkhet) and occasionally to Kathmandu for review and coordination meetings.
Required qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Gender Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in community mobilization, grassroots organizing, or working on gender equality and social justice programs.
- Experience working directly with women, girls, and marginalized communities, particularly in rural or semi-urban settings.
- Strong understanding of intersectional feminism, social inclusion, and community empowerment principles.
- Good coordination, facilitation, and communication skills in both Nepali and local languages of project districts (preferred).
- Ability to write basic reports, document field activities, and share updates clearly with the central team.
- Comfortable using mobile apps and basic digital tools (email, MS Word, photography for documentation, etc.).
- Willingness to travel frequently within project districts and occasionally to Kathmandu.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to cultural and social diversity.
- Commitment to feminist values, human rights, and The Story Kitchen’s mission.
