Mission East is a Danish international relief and development organisation, which works to help the vulnerable through humanitarian relief aid, development assistance and support to increasing capacity of communities to organise and assist themselves.
Mission East works in response to community needs, primarily in the areas of public health, livelihoods improvement and food security.
Mission East Nepal is starting an ECHO funded Water, Hygiene and Health Promotion project in Kalikot District, Karnali Zone and is inviting applications for the position of
Hygiene Promotion Officer
Length of contract: 12 months
Location: Kalikot District, Karnali Zone
Salary: according to Mission East Nepal rules and regulation for local staff
Overall responsibility
To ensure correct delivery and impact of the hygiene and health promotion activities, good participation of the target communities and other local stakeholders, in close collaboration with the local NGO partners’ Hygiene and Health Officer
Key tasks
• Actively participating to the development of the hygiene promotion and community health methodology and guidelines.
• Developing IEC tools for the Hygiene and Health promotion activities
• Providing initial training to NGO partners’ social team and participating in the definition of their objectives and activities’ plan
• Participate to the monitoring of all the hygiene and health promotion, and community mobilization activities to ensure target communities’ behavior change and project ownership
• Providing training in the target communities as needed
• Providing technical guidance and support to NGO partner’s hygiene and health team by training, supervision and mentoring
• Follow and supervise the Hygiene and Health Promoters in the field on a regular basis
• Organizing, supervising and producing KAP (Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices) surveys
• Playing a bridging role between NGO partner and Mission East
• Assisting the Programme Manager in the preparation of monthly and quarterly progress reports
• Providing full support to Programme Manager in maintaining regular contact with local stakeholders including government Authorities.
• Perform any other reasonable tasks, as required by the Programme Manager
Qualifications required
Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or Social Science
Good written and spoken English
Good computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
Experience required
At least two years experience in similar position in NGO/INGO
