Introduction: The Veteran Support Officer (Records) at GVAC Dharan supports the Gurkha Veteran Advice Centre’s mission by performing the duties and responsibilities associated with the role. The mission of BGN Veteran Services is to deliver post-retirement administrative services—such as administering pension payments and updating, maintaining, and safeguarding records—and to provide welfare support on UK settlement matters to Gurkha veterans and their eligible dependants, thereby fulfilling BGN’s objectives.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description:
- Be the Subject Matter Lead on all things Veterans’ Records in his/her GVAC area of responsibility.
- Process the requests from ex-servicemen/eligible dependants on Kindred Roll changes (registration of birth, adoption, disability, marriage, divorce/elopement and correction of name/ DOB of dependants).
- Facilitate Family Details, Certificate of Service and Service Details requests from veterans and eligible widows.
- Ensure death reports of Gurkha ex-servicemen/widows/eligible dependants/pensioners are processed as soon as received.
- Inform outcome of the applicants’ requests and pass on documents issued by Records Office as soon as they are received.
- Check and ensure applicants’ documents issued by Nepali government authorities are genuine and reliably verifiable.
- When required, liaise with local government officials to verify documents prior to forwarding them to the Records Office.
- Update and maintain database of queries/tasks/activities completed and produce stats when required.
- Carry out discreet field investigation on suspected cases when requested by the Records Office and submit factual report.
- Make sure hardcopy documents are securely stored, and Data Protection Act 2018 is always adhered to when handling them.
- Ensure that all BGN policy and directives applicable to the Records related issues are complied with.
- Support EO GVAC on his/her tasks and stand-in for him/her as well as other VSOs when required.

Work Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in related field.
- Proficient in IT knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (specially word, excel, power point and outlook).
- Very good knowledge of Nepali identity documentation.
- Familiar with UK visa procedure and immigration rules and policies and life in UK are preferable.
- Should have good communication skills in both English and Nepali (written and spoken) including translating documents.
Qualification:
- Academic – Minimum Intermediate or + 2 level/A level
- English – Excellent level of Written and Spoken
- Nepali – Excellent level of Written and Spoken

- Salary 107,363.00 NPR per month (Permanent).
- Gratuity after completing 3 years’ service.

Security and Medical Check:
Candidates successful in the interview must meet the security and medical requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is a Govt of Nepal Police Report for employment in Nepal. Pre employment medical check will be carried out by BGN.
