BGN Workshop (WKSP) is to deliver effective intimate Equipment Support (ES) to the British Gurkhas Nepal, to achieve BGN’s Mission. Therefore, to enable this, everyone within BGN WKSP should be Technically Sound, Competent, Proactive, hold good written and verbal communication in English and Nepali, and be an effective Team Player.
BGN Mission: Maintain the firm base in Nepal in order to enable Gurkha recruiting and welfare services.
BGN WKSP Mission: Maintain BGN’s vehicles and equipment to enable the Gurkha recruitment and welfare services across Nepal.
Introduction
BGK Vehicle Mechanic Foreman responsible to the current incumbent of the Warrant Officer Equipment Support (WOES). The Kathmandu WKSP VM Foreman role is responsible for the coordination and management of all maintenance, repairs and inspection of BGN vehicles and other miscellaneous equipment to enable BGN to achieve its Mission. You must complete these tasks ins accordance with relevant White Fleet Technical Documents and Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP). You will be expected to use the Army’s Joint Asset Management Equipment Support programme (JAMES) to record inspections and maintenance. In addition to the above, you must also follow the procedures set out in the Land Equipment Engineering Standards (LEES), Land Equipment User Maintenance Standards (LEUMS), BGN Unit Equipment Care Directives (BGN UECD), BGN Engineering Management System (BGN EMS) and Equipment Standards Regulatory Schedule (ESRS).

This position is advertised at 40 hours per week.
Job description/Responsibilities
- Perform the duty of Foreman, Vehicle Mechanic (VM) Class 1 and Vehicle Inspector (VI) IAW the latest Land Systems Maintenance Engineering Authorities (LSMEA) Level V: Annex A refers.
- Facilitate the Inspection and Maintenance of BGN(K) vehicles and other equipment.
- Record maintenance and inspections using JAMES, or the future replacement.
- Supervise, mentor, and train BGN VM Civilian Staff.
- Forecast Duty Vehicle Mechanic duties and carry out the role in rotation with another Class 1 VM.
- Coordinate roadside assistance to BGN’s broken-down vehicles or provide Level 1 recovery within Nepal on direction from WOES.
- Coordinate repair, maintenance and inspection with relevant departments, and all spares demands through the Unit Repair Spare (URS) Clerk.
- Coordinate with Test & Measurement Equipment (TME) Manager for the calibration of WKSP TME.
- Support BGN(P) when required.
- Support line management in their tasks, including deputising for them when required.
- Ensure repairs, maintenance and inspections are carried out in a timely manner.
- Inspect vehicles and carry out Damage Reports when required.
- Remain up to date with MOD MEI policy.
- Always remain conformant with ESRS, LEUMS, LEES, EMS and UECD.
- Always apply safe working practices in line with BGN Health and Safety policy, LEES, LEUMS, EMS, UECD and the relevant Risk Assessments.
- Carry out Monthly Management Checks IAW EMS & UECD.
- Advise and assist WOES to update Record of Experience Charts (RECs) of the WKSP personnel.
- Lifting Equipment Record Keeper (LERK) for BGN(K) WKSP.
- BGN (K) WKSP COSHH Representative.
- Provide WOES with information for the update of Weekly Equipment Availability Report (WEAR) for BGN(K) fleet.
- Manage equipment maintenance, repair and inspection on Joint Assets Management System (JAMES) upon JAMES becoming LIVE in BGN.
- Step in as WOES in their absence and assume all of their responsibilities for temporary measures only.
- Any other tasks commensurate with the grade and as directed by WOES.

Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience
Qualification
- Academic – SLC/SEE (minimum) (Higher relevant Education/Qualification is preferred)
- Technical – Use of IT Systems on Windows (Word, Excel and Outlook), Government of Nepal issued Driving License HGV, Car & Motorcycle, Formal Vehicle Mechanic Training, Lifting Equipment Inspections, Health and Safety at work Training. Knowledge and training/qualification on mechanical / automotive engineering is an advantage.
- English – Good Written and Spoken
- Nepali – Good Written and Spoken

- Salary 124,539.00 NPR per month (Permanent).
