Sindhuli Integrated Development Services Nepal (SIDS/Nepal) 

Sindhuli Integrated Development Services Nepal (SIDS/Nepal) is a national, non-profit making, non-political and secular organization. It was registered in 1994 with District Administration Office, Sindhuli under Organization Registration Act 2034 B.S. SIDS/Nepal is continuously being supported by different national, international donors and I/NGOs as well as government of Nepal.

In partnership with Heifer International Nepal and Kamalamai Municipality, SIDS/Nepal is implementing the Milky Way Project in Kamalamai Municipality, Sindhuli. The project aims to transform Nepal’s dairy sector by supporting small-scale dairy farmers, especially women, through strengthened cooperatives, enhanced productivity, and diversified market access.

SIDS/Nepal invites applications from the interested and eligible candidates who are reliable, accountable, and have the ability to deliver results with the highest level of integrity for the following position.

Position 1 

Job Title: Project Coordinator

No. of Positions: 1

Reports To: Liaison person/Focal person, Chairperson of SIDS Nepal.

Duty Station: Sindhuli 

Contract Type: Fixed Term, Full-time

Purpose of the Role: Project Coordinator will lead the overall project portfolio at sub-award level with a cohesive integration among various stakeholders. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating project activities, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and driving the project towards its objectives. This role serves as the focal point for communication and coordination, ensuring that all project elements align with the overarching goals of the Milky Way Project. Along with this, there should be strong focus on project sustainability efforts as envisioned by the given projects and projects.

Major responsibilities 

A.     Project Management: 

  • Develop comprehensive operational calendar highlighting key milestones and financial projections 
  • Ability to integrate multiple line of reporting and contribute to strategic objectives. 
  • Identifying potential risks, developing mitigation strategies and effective risk management in place 
  • Guide the team in achieving project goal and promote sustainability drivers.  
  • Prepare quality reporting to share with different stakeholders as per the requirements and needs 
  • A strong financial and supply chain management leadership to manage project effectively and stewardship principles are adhered well. 
  • Integrated workforce management to be more strategic and effective in delivering results. 
  • Conduct periodic review and reflection to accommodate failures and successes appropriately. 
  • Lead the team to manage the provided resources with efficient and responsible manner 

B.     Capacity Building 

  • Demonstrate strong leadership to coach, mentor and guide the team in delivering their plan/tasks 
  • Conduct regular capacity assessment of program  team and provide needful support to demonstrate better leadership  
  • Promote agile and strategic leadership to manage challenges, pressing priorities and multiple stakeholders’ requirements in different contexts and circumstances. 
  • Support and encourage the team to adapt to change and also ability to accommodate new learning and guidance/requirements including the contexts such as emergencies. 

C.     Monitoring & Evaluations 

  • Lead the team in managing validated data and information to reflect project results timely. 
  • Support team in best utilize the provided digital platforms to input correct data and regular review and analysis of the data and information. 
  • Strongly lead the team in maintaining integrity in data and information management. 
  • Provide factual and accurate data and information as required by the system or requirements timely. 
  • Produce periodic reports on community feedback, MEAL results in order to review, analyze and make corrective measures to excel quality delivery timely 

D.     Relationship Management: 

  • Develop strong coordination with local, district and provincial stakeholders profile project advocacy efforts with appropriate means and platforms 
  • Convene strategic coordination and collaborations with relevant stakeholders to share the resources and produce greater impact  
  • Provide strong and strategic leadership on team cohesion to avoid conflict and promote encouraging and conducive working environment 
  • Manage effective communication and coordination with staff, PNGO board and all relevant stakeholders to manage project effectively 

Competencies:

Academic Qualification and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in veterinary science, agriculture, livestock, dairy science, food technology, business administration, or related fields.
  • Relevant work experience in the local value chain, dairy industry, project management, or related roles.
  • Previous involvement in successful dairy value chain projects is a plus.

Sector Knowledge: 

  • General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Good command of English & Nepali languages (written & spoken)
  • Practical knowledge of project budgeting, accounting & reporting
  • Able to articulate and communicate ideas well verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of tax and compliance
  • Demonstrated Mentoring, Orientation & Training Skill
  • Good interpersonal, problem-solving & time management skills
  • Willingness to work under pressure with tight deadlines and to travel across the project areas.

Position 2:

Job Title: Cooperative Capacity Building Officer (CCBO) - Cooperative Development

Reports To: Project Coordinator

Duty Station: Sindhuli 

Contract Type: Fixed Term, Full-time

Purpose of the role: The Cooperative Capacity Building Officer (CCBO) will be responsible for ensuring the successful and efficient functioning of Social Entrepreneur Women Cooperative (SEWC) owned agri-businesses in line with Heifer’s vision, mission, goal, objectives, policies, and procedures. S/he will work closely with Milky Way Project offices, regional office, country office cooperative department and external stakeholders to improve cooperative governance, financial management and linkages and coordination with other institutions. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES: 

Cooperative Capacity Building (40%)

  • Develop conceptual framework for cooperative development (including strategies, standard interventions, milestones) to achieve the goals of Milky Way Project, Kamalamai, Sindhuli.
  • Prepare and facilitate the implementation of a capacity development plan for SEWC.
  • Enhance the capacity of SEWC staff for the effective implementation of its business activities at the field level.
  • Assist and ensure the use of different Cooperative Assessment Tool (COCAT, HARATI etc.), along with a feedback mechanism, to enhance governance, operation, and financial management.
  • Provide technical support for the smooth implementation of a cooperative accounting system.
  • Organize capacity building events, meetings and exchange visits for cooperatives and project staff.
  • Create an enabling environment for the continuous growth of cooperatives. 

Networking, Linkages and Coordination (25%)

  • Explore opportunities for coordination and functional relationships with government, national/international agencies, associations, federations, private sectors, and other non-governmental sectors for collaboration and support.
  • Coordinate with potential governmental and non-governmental organizations for partnership and resource leverage. 
  • Facilitate cross-learning among cooperatives and facilitate the adaptation of best practices. 
  • Create an enabling environment to raise resources from different sources for growth and development of agri-business owned by SEWC.
  • Represent Milky Way Project in Cooperative owned agribusiness related forums and advocate for smallholder farmers and Social Entrepreneur Women (SEW) cooperatives. 
  • Keep knowledge of the latest developments in the cooperative sector globally. 

Training packages for cooperative development (20%)

  • Prepare and update cooperative policies, guidelines, directives, business development plan , training manuals and training materials regularly.
  • Ensure all cooperatives’ policies and guidelines are following local/provincial and federal acts, rules, standards, and directives.
  • Facilitate cooperatives to put in place a system to regularly update their policies, guidelines, directives, training manuals.
  • Support the cooperatives in development/updating of strategic plans and implementation plan.

Documentation and reporting (10%)

  • Prepare periodic reports, document best practices, case studies and lessons learned.
  • Prepare analytic reports as required for the leadership, and other related stakeholders. 
  • Build the capacity of cooperatives to prepare and submit reports to concerned line agencies as mentioned in acts and rules.

Other job-related duties as assigned 

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university in Business Administration, Economics, Business Studies, Agriculture, or related field is required, plus at least three (3) years of related experience in cooperative development and governance.
  • Knowledge and experience working with local/provincial/federal government, NGO and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with related stakeholders.

Essential Competencies

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prepare and present documents in a well-designed and attractive format with superior attention to detail.
  • An effective collaborator/team player who can train and operate harmoniously with a varied team, including field personnel in multiple sites

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Skills with Microsoft Office package, internet browser, and other appropriate technology

  • Able to effectively promote Heifer’s mission, values, and objectives
  • Sensitivity in working with multiple cultures and beliefs, and to gender equity.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing a valid 2-wheeler driving license.
