The Karnali Community Development Centre (KCDC) is a service-oriented non-governmental organization (NGO) registered with the District Administration Office, Mugu, Nepal, in 2062 B.S. (2005 A.D.). KCDC is dedicated to promoting sustainable and inclusive community development in the Karnali region and beyond. The organization works to improve the quality of life of marginalized and rural communities through a diverse range of development initiatives. Its key areas of work include maternal, newborn, and child health care; nutrition; education; alternative energy promotion; improved water mills; rural infrastructure development; social empowerment; poverty reduction; food security; and agriculture promotion.

With the technical and financial support of WELT HUNGER HILFE (WHH) Nepal, the Karnali Community Development Centre (KCDC), Mugu is implementing the Empowering women and community-based organizations of Western Mountain for a resilient local food system (EMPOWER) (Pipeline Project) in Khatayad Rural Municipality of Mugu District.

Karnali Community Development Center (KCDC) invites applications from Dynamic, energetic, experienced, self-motivated and qualified Nepalese candidates for following position for “Empowering women and community-based organizations of Western Mountain for a resilient local food system (EMPOWER) (Pipeline Project).” 

1. Agriculture officer (AO) – 1 Position (Field Based for Khatayad Rural Municipality, Mugu)

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Agriculture Officer will lead the implementation of the project focusing on strengthening nutrition-sensitive, climate-resilient, and agroecological agricultural practices in target communities. The officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting agriculture-related interventions that promote nutrition, agrobiodiversity, and sustainable livelihoods. The role includes capacity building of communities and social mobilizers, identifying and mainstreaming nutrition and agroecologically friendly solutions, and promoting agrobiodiversity conservation through use and case story documentation.          

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field with at least three years of relevant experience in nutrition-sensitive or agroecological agriculture. 
  • Fluency in languages: Nepali, English and local dialect both written and spoken.Proven experience in community capacity building, agrobiodiversity conservation, and nutrition-agriculture integration.
  • Strong coordination, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Experience in implementing Farmer Field Schools (FFS), Knowledge of Community Seed Bank (CSB), nutrition-sensitive home gardens (HG), 
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate training sessions and community-level workshopsExcellent report writing and documentation skills (case stories, success stories).
  • Proficiency in Nepali, English, and local dialects (spoken and written).
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and digital tools; data analysis skills (SPSS, Excel, etc.) are an advantage.
  • Preference given to females, local resident of Mugu District with willingness to travel frequently to remote project areas.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse communities, including women and marginalized groups, in a remote mountainous environment. 
  • Commitment to gender equality, social inclusion, and safeguarding principles.
  • Preferably holds a valid two-wheeler license.

2. Admin and Finance Officer (AFO) – 1 Position

Key Responsibilities: 

The Finance Officer will be responsible for overall financial management, bookkeeping, reporting, and compliance with organizational and donor financial procedures. S/he will also support procurement, logistics, and administrative functions.

Required Qualification & Competence.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably within NGOs/INGOs.
  • Sound knowledge of financial regulations, taxation, and procurement processes.
  • Proficiency in Tally, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Package.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in Nepali and English (spoken and written); knowledge of local dialects is an asset.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • Preference given to residents of Mugu District.

3. Social Mobilizer – 3 Positions

Key Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Social Mobilizer will be responsible for facilitating community mobilization, organizing trainings, supporting local CSA and WAN networks, and assisting in the implementation of Farmer Field Schools (FFS) on Participatory Plant Breeding (PPB) and Sustainable Integrated Farming Systems (SIFS). The position requires extensive field engagement with local communities, cooperatives, and local government representatives to promote inclusive nutrition governance, agriculture-based livelihoods, and social accountability. The Social Mobilizer will ensure meaningful participation of women, marginalized, and disadvantaged groups in project interventions and support timely delivery of project materials and inputs at the community level.

Required Qualification & Competence:

  • Minimum TSLC(JTA) /diploma in Agriculture, Livestock, or a Certificate level any faculty with JTA training.
  • Higher qualifications in agriculture, livestock, or community development are an advantage.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in community mobilization, agriculture/livestock extension, or social development projects, preferably in remote or mountain areas.
  • Experience working with CSOs, cooperatives, or farmers’ groups is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of community dynamics, inclusive development, and local governance structures.
  • Good facilitation and communication skills in Nepali and local languages; basic English preferred.
  • Proficiency in smartphone use, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and data collection tools.
  • Ability to prepare concise field reports, case stories, and documentation of community events.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work respectfully with diverse communities.
  • Must be a local resident of Mugu District or willing to reside full-time in the project area.
