Heifer Project Nepal, established in 1996 as a separate entity from Heifer International Nepal, partners with local, national, and international stakeholders to empower communities. The organization focuses on promoting food security and improving livelihoods through sustainable agriculture and livestock farming. HPN invites applications from eligible Nepali citizens for the focus grant project entitled “Jersey Valley”. This is a joint project between HPN and Heifer Netherland, being funded by Jersey Oversees Aids.

Grant, Contract, and Compliance Manager Nos. – 1
Function: The Grant, Contract and Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing the Jersey Valley Project, a Joint project between Heifer Project Nepal and Heifer Netherland, being funded by Jersey Overseas Aids grant, contract and compliance, including entire grant/contract management cycle and strengthening the Integrated Program Management System of Heifer Project Nepal. The position provides technical assistance in the preparation, reviewing, submission, processing and management of the grant and contract cost proposals and ensures that the administration of financial resources received from the individual, foundation, bilateral, multilateral donors, and government funds, including compliance with the rules and regulations of the donor and the country’s laws.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
- Studies, or related field, plus a minimum of five (5) years of managerial experience in a similar context is required.
- Practical experience in various aspects of accounting principles and practices with a good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Practical knowledge of Nepal Government Public Procurement Act and Regulations.
- Basic understanding and sensitivity to issues associated with poverty, hunger, and the environment.
- Ability to navigate financial and non-financial data gathering and analytics; technically adept with ability to quickly learn and maximize usage of technology and software; effective use of Microsoft Office Suite with good skill in MS Excel.
- Effective communicator and influencer with the ability to clearly convey complex financial issues in a clear format for non-finance professions, motivating continuous and collaborative improvement.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
- Proficient in English and Nepali languages, both spoken and written.
- Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements

Senior Project Officer - Market and Access to Finance - Nos. 1
Project Location – Nawalpur, Kaski, and Tanahun districts of Gandaki Province
The Senior Project Officer- Market and Access to Finance, will be responsible for strengthening the capacity of the participating farmers and cooperatives across the Jersey Valley Nepal (JVN) project area with markets and financial institutions to enhance access to market of raw milk and processed products; and investment (i.e. credit) and support business expansion. S/he will assess gaps and opportunities in product market and financial services, coordinate with buyers to ensure sustainable supply chain and financial institutions to develop farmer friendly loan products and monitor their deployment and repayment. The Senior Project Officer will identify challenges and opportunities at farm level, cooperative level and market level related to access to markets and finance areas and communicate with the project manager and thematic leads through proper documentation and reports. The role includes identifying potential markets, supporting market development, identification and coordinating with the potential private sectors to engage cooperatives in areas such as consistent supply of raw milk, efficient supply chain operations, and scaling-up investments. Additionally, s/he will collaborate with financial intermediaries in designing and delivering innovative financial products and services to farmers, cooperative and agribusinesses
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in Economics, Agriculture, Management, Agribusiness, or a related field, and at least 5 years of relevant work experience. or
- A Master’s in the finance sector, particularly in agriculture/livestock market development, value chain and access to finance, or enterprise development, plus at least 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience in supporting and monitoring field-based programs.
- Proven experience in engagement with private sector stakeholders and financial institutions.
- Technical experience with the commercial sector, agribusiness development in a mix of economic growth/trade, value chain competitiveness, investment promotion, or agriculture development.
- Track record of building agriculture market linkage, strong client and stakeholder relationships.
- Knowledge of livestock economics or agriculture business development.
- Understanding of financial procedures and expertise in facilitating investment effectively.
- Experience in the commercial sector with skills to develop and evaluate investment opportunities and promote such opportunities to financial institutions.
- Strong interpersonal/people management skills and excellent oral and written communication skills with proficiency in English and other local languages are a must
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis, documentation and presentation.
- Strong consumer marketing, financial analysis, and management skills.
- Ability to create innovative and unique solutions as per requirement.
- Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements.
