Group of Helping Hands (SAHAS) Nepal is anon-governmental development organization established in 1996 and working on sustainable agriculture and food security, Disaster risk reduction and climate change, natural resource management, lobby and advocacy, civic quality education, infrastructure development, social mobilization and movement. The organisation focuses to work with vulnerable families and communities, and smallholder farmers to improve their livelihood. At present, the organization is implementing several projects in a total of 21 districts of Nepal.

SAHAS Nepal, we are therefore currently planning a pilot project in Ramechhap, which aims on the one hand to close the COVID-related learning gaps of the students and on the other hand to sustainably improve the quality of education in the project schools. This is to be achieved by training the teachers by qualified, experienced, and well-trained school officers and accompanying them in their daily work. At the sametime, village communities are mobilized and empowered to run learning camps.

SAHAS Nepal is seeking energetic, committed and creative candidates young to work on closing learning gaps and supporting schools to establish quality education for the following positions:

1. Position: Education Coordinator

Duty Station: Khadadevi Rural Muncipality, Ramechhap district

(60% field & 40% Kathmandu)

Required number: 1

Academic qualification/experiences:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education, social science and relevant field with 5 years of experience in education or a related filed. A master degree with 2 years is preferred.
  • Should have a good understanding of the concept of learning gaps and how they impact student achievement.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize and manage complex project involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all level
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data related to student learning gaps
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Knowledge of learning theories, pedagogical strategies and teaching methodologies is preferred. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Development and management of programme and project plans, reviewing the plan regularly to ensure tasks and milestones are being achieved in a timely manner in close coordination with the project team
  • Provide guidance and assist to the project staffs in assessing the context and needs in planning and implementing activities
  • Prepare annually, quarterly and monthly plans for effective execution of the project activities as stipulated in the project documents
  • Conducting data collection and analysis to identify learning gaps among the targeted school children using various tools and techniques to measure performance in support of technical service provider
  • Working with technical service providers to implement learning programs and training materials responding towards the activities in the project.
  • Managing project budgets, ensuring that expenses are within budgetary guidelines and preparing budget report for project according to funding partners’ requirement.
  • Monitoring progress towards project milestones, objectives and goals. This involves regularly reviewing project status reports, and other project related documents. 
  • Attend different meetings with the stakeholders, literature and desk review of the education plans and policies and prepare comprehensive report on the status of education in Nepal 
  • Represent at communities, rural municipal, district levels and ensure effective communication, coordination and cooperation with project partners, key development facilitators and project stakeholders

2. Position: Senior School Officer

Duty Station: Khadadevi Rural Municipality, Ramechhap district

Required number: 6

Academic qualification/experiences:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education, social science or relevant field with minimum 3 years of experience in teaching or in the sector of education  
  • Should have a good understanding of the concept of learning gaps and how they impact student achievement
  • Good knowledge and experience on Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
  • Good Interpersonal skills and analytical skills
  • Good facilitation and reporting skills

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist Education coordinator as requested in technical and official matters
  • Work with school teachers and SAMVAD animators of learning camps to identify areas where students are struggling 
  • Support in the conducting of assessment to determine the root cause of the learning gaps, the learning level of students and guide them with appropriate worksheets and other learning support.
  • Monitor the progress of students, teachers and the school as a whole in implementing the strategies to address learning gaps. This may involve conducting regular assessments, analyzing data and providing feedback to teachers and learning camp facilitators 
  • Proper planning (Yearly, Quarterly and Monthly) of the project activities based on the project plan and the implementation 
  • Provide technical backstopping to the Learning camp facilitators in project related activities and also strong handholding to the teachers for the regular class support and for the extracurricular activities 
  • Produce and submit periodic progress reports to the education coordinator that include the valid and concise information 
  • Represent at communities, rural municipal, district level agencies to ensure effective communication, coordination and cooperation with project partners, key development facilitators and project stakeholders.

3. Position: Admin and Finance Officer

Duty Station: Khadadevi Rural Municipality, Ramechhap district

Required number: 1

Academic qualification/experiences:

  • BBS or BBA Accounts with 2 years experience in Finance and Administrative works
  • Excellent computer skills in Excel, Ms-Word, Power point, skills in Accounting Software
  • Strong commitment to team work with effective communication skills
  • Motivating leadership, interpersonal skills in languages
  • Efficient team player and can thrive under pressure

Key responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain day to day financial accounts and financial management
  • Prepare clear accurate financial information with sufficient documents
  • Implementation of the compliance of the government, funding partner and the organization
  • Manage procurement related responsibilities
  • Handle multi-project accounts
  • Day to day logistic and administration
  • Financial reporting, analysis, monitoring and follow up of project activities
  • Preparing a budget 
  • Maintain safety, secure of the project assets, stock, and keep records of personal files, tax, Social Security Fund and other salary related information of the respective project
