World Education, a division of JSI, an international NGO working with disadvantaged communities and vulnerable populations, seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for the following positions for a 4-year climate change project. World Education seeks candidates to build a dynamic team to develop climate change mitigation approaches that increase the resilience of local communities to child labor and /or forced labor. The Tatpartaa project will work on building an increased understanding of the link between climate change and vulnerability to child/forced labor risks emphasizing increased implementation of child centered, gender sensitive and socially inclusive climate adaptation initiatives. 

A.     Research Officer

The Research Officer will lead and coordinate the research activities and build the capacity of local NGOs communities and municipalities to undertake participatory action research on climate change and child labor. The Research Officer will be responsible for documentation, identification of best practices, development of knowledge products and dissemination of research findings. 

Qualifications: Knowledge and experience related to research on climate change. Master’s degree in relevant field, with a minimum 5 years of work experience in Climate Change Research. Prior experience in research related to exploitative labor, forced labor or child labor will be an advantage. Strong team player and an interest to engage communities to address climate change impacts.

B.     Communications Officer 

The Communications Officer will develop and design the communications strategy materials and products in collaboration with the partners and donor for the Tatpartaa Project. This will include digital and print media products and a digital toolkit of climate change resources for use by communities. The Communications Officer will also need to support development of community based social and behavior campaigns and lead analysis of effectiveness.

Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree, in Communications, Information Technology, Development, or other relevant field with at least 5 years of experience. Ability to design communication campaigns, develop media, infographics, decision aids and digital toolkits is preferred. Excellent writing and presentation skills in English and Nepali and ability to work efficiently with team members and communities required. A clear understanding of child labor issues is an advantage. 

C.     Program Officer (Child Labor and Municipality Planning)

The Program Officer (Child Labor and Municipality Planning) will support project partners and communities working with local governments to develop local adaptation plans to respond to climate change and prevent child labor and forced labor. S/he will be required to bring expertise on child labor and build the capacity of stakeholders to access the impacts of climate change on exploitative labor. S/he, will be responsible for capacity assessments and building capacity for community mobilization and implementation of catalyst grants. 

Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Development, or other relevant field with at least 5 years of experience in addressing child labor or exploitative labor. Must have experience working with disadvantaged communities and providing training and mentoring for grassroots NGOs. Must have experience working with local governments on planning and implementation of programs to address labor issues and child protection.
