TOR for Creative Associate
Established in 2009, YUWA is a registered not for profit, purely youth run and led organization working to promote youth participation through empowerment and advocacy. YUWA was born out of a group of committed youths, unofficially working in this sector since 2005. Since its formal establishment, YUWA has concentrated upon holistic youth issues and is especially working on three thematic issues- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Active Citizenship and Center for Youth Studies.
YUWA is looking for a Creative Associate to work in its communication department which assists overall communication strategies of all its programs and project. This is core position in YUWA.
The responsibilities of Creative Associate includes:
1.1 Program and Project responsibilities
- Ensure the branding guidelines of YUWA is followed in each program and projects.
- Develop creative and innovative ideas for print, electronic, web-based and animated presentations.
- Prepare design as per requirement from the executive, program department and communications department.
- Produce creative audio-visual materials for social media and website.
- Design of reports and other communication materials for printing and electronic distribution.
- Layout and design information and communication materials (banners, posters, booklets, leaflets, calendars, bulletins, flyers, cards).
- Carry out photography of all official events of YUWA.
- Prepare designs for internal and external reporting such as quarterly report and internal monthly report.
1.2 Social Media responsibilities
- Ensure that all posts, online materials including publications, reports and products are produced in line branding guidelines.
- Review final productions of any visual designs to be posted in social media for errors and ensure that it’s according to YUWA’s branding guidelines.
- Coordinate with team members to gather images, logos, stats and content to use creation of info graphics, social media posts for programs and project.
1.3 Organizational and Team Tasks
- Contribute to other shared program tasks of YUWA, such as joint advocacy planning and development, information scanning, visitor orientation, publication outputs, promotion of YUWA, and others.
- Contribute to mid-year, annual and long-term review of strategic planning.
- Contribute to and participate in organization-wide tasks, such as staff meetings, staff capacity development activities, annual retreat, evaluation and planning meeting, staff representation at Annual General Meetings, intern/volunteer/visitor orientation, and others.
- Research and recommend new ideas for strengthening YUWA’s brand.
- Prepare designs for internal and external reporting such as quarterly report and internal monthly report.
1.4 Carry out other tasks delegated by the supervisor or management
Reports to: Senior Communication, Documentation and Learning Officer
Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
Expected starting Date: January 2022
Duty Station: Kathmandu
Salary: As per YUWA’s HR policy
Requirements:
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine arts, graphic design, communication, IT or related subject / Or, Certifications in design or multimedia or related subject; (Final years student with proven experience in designing will also be considered). Bachelors running can also apply;
- Excellent language skills in English and Nepali
- Prior experience of creative and innovative designs and ideas;
Desirable
- Prior experience of designing materials for programs and projects along with promotional materials will be a plus
- Prior experience in event multimedia management will be a plus;
- Experience of working with youth organization or a youth targeted NGO will be a plus;

- Adapt to Y-culture: YUWA is a youth led youth run organization and we maintain youth culture and meaning youth participation in all our programs. We expect the potential candidate to adapt and comply with the Y-culture.
