Remuneration: Gross Salary per month (NPR 55,000 to 60,500)

This is an urgent requirement position; the candidate should join the office as soon as possible (1 February 2026).

CLEAN UP NEPAL, in collaboration with BAS Nepal and with financial support from The Coca Cola Foundation, intends to construct a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at Nepalgunj. CLEAN UP NEPAL is seeking a qualified, motivated, and field-oriented Engineer to lead and oversee the design, construction, and operational readiness of a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and toilet in Nepalgunj. The Technical Engineer will be primarily responsible for ensuring quality construction, technical compliance, and coordination with local stakeholders. Technical Engineer must meet the following requirements as Essential skills and experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in: construction supervision, solid waste management infrastructure, MRF, landfill, transfer station, toilet, or similar environmental infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of building construction practices, structural works, materials, and site management.
  • Experience in BOQ preparation, cost estimation, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to coordinate with contractors, suppliers, local governments, and communities.
  • Experience working with NGOs/INGOs or donor-funded projects is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Good reporting and documentation skills (English and Nepali).
  • Willingness to be based in Nepalgunj and work extensively in the field.
  • Ability to work well with people from different backgrounds and cultures.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the construction of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Nepalgunj in accordance with approved designs, drawings, and standards.
  • Review and follow the technical designs, drawings, BOQs, and cost estimates related to MRF construction.
  • Ensure construction quality, safety standards, and environmental safeguards are strictly followed.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and labor teams to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of works.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, maintain site records, and certify work progress.
  • Support procurement by providing technical specifications and evaluating construction-related bids.
  • Coordinate with local government authorities, BAS Nepal- project partners, and community representatives.
  • Prepare progress reports, technical notes, and completion reports as required by CLEAN UP NEPAL, consortium partner and donor.
  • Support installation and layout of waste sorting equipment and basic operational infrastructure of the MRF and toilet facilities.
  • Provide technical input for operation and maintenance planning of the MRF.
  • Ensure compliance with national building codes, environmental guidelines, and project requirements.
  • Perform any other related technical duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Undertake any other related duties as requested by the office.
