Social Mobilizer

Water Center Twenty One पहल, a non-profit organization, with it's head office in Bharatpur, Chitwan district intends to hire a SOCIAL MOBILIZER for the project "Women Led Sanitary Pad/ Handicraft Business and Commercial Farming in Madi, Chitwan (खुशी)" for the period of 18 months starting from around the first week of December 2023. Water Center Twenty One पहल  is working in 4 districts of Nepal in the fields of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH); Water and Life Development; Commercial and innovative farming services; Municipal strategic  planning and strengthening local governance. 

Qualification:

1.     Intermediate degree (+2) in social sciences, Education, Development Studies, Gender Studies, or a related field. A bachelor's degree is preferred.

2.     Proven experience in community mobilization, capacity building, and women’s empowerment initiatives, with a focus on GESI.

3.     Familiarity with menstrual health and hygiene, small-scale business development, and sustainable farming practices.

4.     Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.

5.   Knowledge of the local context and fluency in Nepali; working knowledge of Tharu and English.

Job Description:

1.     Community Mobilization

a.     Organize and lead community meetings, awareness campaigns, and workshops to engage local stakeholders in project activities.

b.     Facilitate discussions to ensure active participation and ownership among marginalized communities.

2.     Capacity Building and Training

a.     Design and deliver training programs focused on KHUSI Pad production, commercial farming, and related skills for women beneficiaries.

b.     Provide technical support and guidance to ensure the adoption of best practices in both sectors.

3.     Market Access and Business Development

a.     Identify potential markets and establish linkages for KHUSI Pad products and agricultural produce, emphasizing sustainable and inclusive value chains.

b.     Assist in the development of business plans, marketing strategies, and financial management for women entrepreneurs.

4.     Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) Mainstreaming

a.     Integrate GESI perspectives into project activities to address disparities and ensure equal access to economic opportunities and services.

b.     Conduct regular assessments to measure the impact of project interventions on marginalized communities.

5.     Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation

a.     Establish a robust monitoring and reporting system to track project progress, document success stories, and address challenges.

b.     Prepare and submit timely reports on activities, achievements, and lessons learned.

Reporting Structure: The Social Mobilizer will report directly to the Project Manager/Field Coordinator and work closely with the project team and पहल Board of Directors.
