The Rural Institution for Community Development (RICOD) is registered at the Lalitpur District Administration Office and has been affiliated with the Social Welfare Council since 1995. Since its inception it has been working with communities in Lalitpur district. A board of 9 persons governs RICOD. The board is elected once every five years and meets every three month. There are 18 female and 20 male general members who assemble once a year for the general assembly. The members have experience in planning and implementation of community development, community health and relief & rehabilitation projects. Some members also have experience working in rural areas and have skills in school education, primary health, food security and nutrition. RICOD had partnership with Terre des Hommes, Mennonite Central Committee, World Vision International-Nepal, European Commission, Chemonics Int./USAID, Canadian Foodgrains Bank, Volunteer Service Overseas, Restless Development, Atlantic Council for International Cooperation Canada, Norwegian Council for Exchange Cooperation Norway, MAMTA health Institute India, Efforts for Rural Advancement, Bangladesh, SOLID Nepal, Beyond Beijing Committee and Nepal government.

The Rural Institution for Community Development (RICOD) is a non-governmental organization working with children, women and youth in the areas of primary health care, school education, food security, humanitarian emergency response and climate change since 1995 in Nepal. The organization is seeking a self-motivated and qualified candidates for "Mutual Learning for Improving Health and Nutrition Scenario Project” funded by Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation (NOREC).

Job title: Senior Public Health Officer -1, Level: 8 (Eight)

Desired Qualification: Masters in Public Health                               

Major responsibility: The Senior Public Health Officer will be deputed in Bangladesh for 12 months. The major responsibilities will be to initiate health promotion program including school health program, general health screening, awareness sessions to adolescents in nutrition, personal hygiene and reproductive health. This position has to play a vital role as a liaison person between the host and home organization. In addition, this position will be responsible for routine program designing, implementing, data collecting, monitoring and reporting.

Applicable to the position

Age limit: Between 18 to 35 years

Passport: Holding Nepalese passport valid till December 2025 

Position duration: 14 months (1st September 2024 – 31st October 2025)

Required Skills: Leadership, interpersonal communications, problem-solving, public speaking, analytical, and strong writing skills.  

Language: Apart from Nepali and English, spoken Bengali will be preferred.

Preparatory training, contract issuance, and job Station: In the beginning, the successful candidate will stay one month with home organization (RICOD) for training and preparation. Preparatory training will be organized in September 2024 in Kathmandu. After the training, a probationary contract will be issued. Then, the successful candidates will be sent to Bangladesh for 12 months assignment to work with the host organization.  After return from Bangladesh, the candidates will continue with RICOD for a month to share their learning and apply in Nepal.

Host Organization: “Effort for Rural Advancement (ERA)” located in Mollikpur Sumanganj-3000, Sylhet division, north-east Bangladesh. The host organization will arrange free accommodation for the candidate so he/she should bear personal and food costs only.

Salary, allowances, and other benefits: Monthly gross salary for this position is approximately NPR 1,25,000/-. Benefits include annual leaves, sick leaves and accidental & medical Insurance.
