Job Description

Job Title:  Senior Finance Officer 

Reports to:  Senior Manager – Finance and Administration

Location: RHEST's Head Office, Bishalnagar, Kathmandu 

Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension 

Salary and benefits: As per the rules and regulations of the organization (Around 90k in Gross)

Role overview

The Senior Finance Officer will be responsible for the financial management of RHEST's Program funded by American Himalayan Foundation (AHF) and Foundation for a Just Society International (FJSI). The Senior Finance Officer will work closely with the Senior Manager – Finance and Administration and Program Manager.

Responsibilities

The responsibility of the Senior Finance Officer includes, but is not limited to the following

1. Budgeting, planning, and finance management

• Work closely with the program team for the annual budgets plan and financial forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with accounting rules and regulations of the organization, Donor and Government of Nepal.
• Review and validate supporting documentation before processing financial transactions to ensure all required documents are accurate and complete. 
• Ensure the accounts of all transactions are upto date.
• Assist in the development of financial strategies.
• Assist in developing and managing financial systems.

2. Monitoring and Reporting

• Prepare various periodic and ad hoc financial reports, including donor reports needed,
• Perform variance analyses to assist with decision-making and proper management of financial resources.

3. Audit Support

• Provide information and documentation required for internal as well as external audits, and donor audits. 
• Provide support to prepare Audit action plan and ensure effective implementation of the plan.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in finance or related field with 3 years' experience in similar role. A master's degree is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance standards.
• Familiar with financial software preferably FAMAS.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of the team.
