Overview
Street Child is an international charity based in the United Kingdom that aims to create avenues for out of-school children to access education through an integrated approach that strengthens the capacity of teachers, schools and communities to sustain their in-vestment in the education for their children.
Street Child started its operations in Nepal from 2015 to assist local organizations in restoring education in the most affected communities. The organization operates in Nepal as Street Child of Nepal (SCoN). SCoN has been developing and implementing programs aimed at enhancing the educational outcomes of marginalized children. SCoN is committed to evidence led advocacy and programming and supports qualitative and quantitative research across sectors.
Under the SAKCHHAM Project: Ensuring Quality Education for Children with Disabilities Project efforts are being made to strengthen inclusive and quality learning opportunities for children with disabilities. As part of this initiative, the digitalization of Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) activities is being conceptualized to support teachers in delivering effective, accessible, and inclusive foundational learning that targets diverse learners.
Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) is a learning approach designed mainly for students at the basic level (up to Grade 5) to help them achieve foundational learning. It focuses on identifying students’ actual learning levels, grouping them according to those levels, and using appropriate recovery and accelerated learning instructional strategies to address learning gaps. In TaRL, students are not grouped by age or grade but by their current learning ability. Using learning assessment tools, teachers identify students’ levels in foundational literacy and numeracy skills and organize them into suitable groups. Engaging and activity-based teaching strategies are then used to help students achieve the foundational learning outcomes specified in the curriculum. Through the digitalization of TaRL activities, teachers will be able to access structured digital resources, assessment tools, and activity-based learning materials that support differentiated instruction and inclusive learning environments for children, including those with disabilities.
The Consultant will work in accordance with the following Terms of Reference.
