REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL: Consultancy Service for Preparation of Adolescent Voices for Safe Urban Futures: Digital Storytelling, Evidence Generation, and Media Engagement Initiative
Child Development Society (CDS), in partnership with World Vision International Nepal (WVIN), is implementing the HATEMALO Project and BRiCKK Plus Project in selected municipalities of Kathmandu Valley to promote child rights, child protection, child participation, and the well-being of children
Objectives:
- To conduct participatory storytelling workshops with child/ adolescents (12–18 years) with lived experiences and positive change narratives.
- To document adolescent experiences related to different pressing child protection issues including online abuse, and substance use capturing both resilience stories and risk realities
- To highlight the role of adolescents as change agents in schools, families, and communities.
- To integrate existing WVI Nepal’s research and evidence into storytelling outputs.
- To develop high- quality, WVI Nepal branded multimedia content including reels, short videos, feature articles, and audio-visual stories suitable for media placement and digital channels.
- To disseminate selected stories through a minimum of three local and national media platforms.
- To produce a professionally designed digital storybook as a consolidated, branded knowledge product.
- To promote evidence-based public understanding of Child/adolescent protection issues in urban settings.
- To generate communications content that strengthens WVI Nepal’s and CDS’s profile, visibility and brand recognition among key audiences.
This assessment is expected to:
- Conduct an inception meeting with the WVI Nepal Urban Programme team and CDS; review existing programme documents, research reports, and success stories.
- Develop a detailed inception report including methodology, ethical framework, work plan, and consent/assent tools.
- Design age-appropriate facilitation guides and storytelling tools for participatory workshops with adolescents.
- Facilitate participatory storytelling workshops with a minimum of 30 children/adolescents (12-18 years) across Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Kirtipur Municipality.
- Document both positive change/resilience stories and risk-related experiences through guided storytelling sessions.
- Conduct thematic analysis of collected narratives and integrate relevant WVI Nepal research and secondary data.
- Develop the following multimedia outputs, all branded in accordance with WVI Nepal's official branding
Qualification and Competencies of Consultant:
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in media, communications, research, or development consultancy.
- Demonstrated experience in storytelling, communication for development, or social and behaviour change communication (SBCC).
- Experience working with children/adolescents or child protection programmes, with understanding of adolescent issues including online risks and substance use.
- Strong skills in qualitative research, thematic analysis, and content development.
- Demonstrated experience producing multimedia outputs (video, audio, written content) of publishable/broadcast quality.
- Proficiency in Nepali and English-both written and spoken-for story collection, translation, and reporting.
- Willingness to operate fully under WVI Nepal's Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct; all team members must sign the Code of Conduct before commencing work.
- Strong facilitation and coordination skills, with experience of participatory approaches with adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to translate evidence into engaging communications products that achieve real media placement or public visibility.
- Preferably: portfolio of previously published/broadcasted storytelling or media engagement products, particularly in the development or child rights sector.

The pre-bid meeting will be conducted virtually on 22 July 2026 from 2: 00 PM to 3: 00 PM.
Prospective bidders wishing to participate in the pre-bid meeting are requested to submit their confirmation via email to "CDS - Procurement Committee" procurement_committee@cds.org.np by 4:00 PM on 21 July 2026. Only bidders who register their participation within the specified deadline will receive the meeting details.
