We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Psychologist to join our team and support us.

Job Description: As a psychologist, you will be responsible for conducting psychotherapy sessions with children in our care and family members, conducting assessments and tests, diagnosing any issues and developing strategies and treatments to overcome them. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide regular counseling to children residing in Unatti Shelter Home addressing emotional, mental, behavioral and development needs
  • Conduct psychological assessments to identify mental health needs and prepare individualized care and support plans for psychosocial development
  • Develop and implement therapeutic activities and well-being programs that promote resilience, self-esteem, self-help skills, social skills, emotional security, improved personal relationships and the capacity for self-understanding and self-empowerment
  • Provide ongoing individual and group therapy
  • Facilitate counseling sessions with family members on need basis to strengthen parent-child relationships and improve family dynamics
  • Develop well-being programs for staff of the organization 
  • Collaborate with other members of the organization to provide comprehensive programmatic care
  • Participate in sharing sessions and team meetings
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records
  • Refer children to external specialized mental health services as needed
  • Ensure ethical, child-centered, and trauma informed practices in all interventions
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices and evidence-based approaches for mental well-being of children residing under alternative care

Qualifications 

  • A Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology
  • An academic or professional background in Social Work 
  • Strong communication, empathy, counseling skills with the ability to build a therapeutic rapport with clients
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations
  • Knowledge of various therapeutic approaches and evidence-based interventions
  • Ethical conduct and a commitment to maintaining client confidentiality
  • A self-starter with ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Prior experience working with children and families in vulnerable situations is a plus
  • Bi-lingual: Nepali and English

Working Conditions:

  • This is a part-time position, requiring 20 hours per week. 
  • The role may require some evening and frequent weekend availability to accommodate counseling sessions.
  • The Psychologist will work primarily in an office setting but will also need to travel to various community locations outside Kathmandu valley on needed basis

Salary: NPR 30,000 per month and other benefits as per the organizational policy.
