Position Summary

The MEAL Officer is responsible for designing, implementing, and strengthening monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems to ensure program quality, transparency, and impact. The position will support evidence-based decision-making and enhance organizational learning.

Position Details

Position: MEAL Officer (75% field travel)

Number of Positions: One (1)

Duty Station: Kaushaltar, Madhyapur Thimi-03, Bhaktapur

Employment Type: Full-time

Reporting To: Managing Director

Contract Duration: Initially One Year (with possibility of extension based on performance)

Probation Period: Six Months

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement M&E frameworks, indicators and tools aligned with project objectives 
  • Conduct baseline, midline and endline surveys, evaluations and data collection activities 
  • Ensure data quality through regular verification, validation, analysis and reporting 
  • Establish and manage feedback and complaint response mechanisms (FCRM) Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories 
  • Support preparation of reports and proposal development with relevant data and evidence 
  • Provide training and technical support to staff on MEAL systems and tools 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Statistics, Development Studies, Social Sciences or a related field 
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in MEAL, monitoring and evaluation or similar roles in the NGO/INGO sector

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical and data management skills
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SPSS, Kobo or similar platforms
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills 
  • Sound knowledge of MEAL frameworks and methodologies
  • Strong communication, coordination and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and work independently or in a team 
  • High level of professionalism, integrity and commitment to organizational values
