Aasaman Nepal (ASN), a pioneer organization for education and nutrition, is one of the leading Terai based NGOs led and managed by social activists since its establishment in Dhanusha, Janakpur in 1999. ASN has been engaged in developing and implementing programs aimed at protection, promotion, and fulfillment of child rights in Nepal. Currently ASN has been working in 20 districts under 6 Thematic Areas as: Education/Child Protection, Women Empowerment, Livelihood/ Natural Resource Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Health/ Nutrition and Good Governance.

Details / requirements:

Aasaman Nepal with Street Child will be executing “Build the Basics project” which aims to implement integrated intervention to alleviate learning loss and accelerate learning levels for 36,000 children; strengthen school capacities for continued learning and retention of students in 600 state schools across 40 Local Governments; and engage in evidence-based advocacy for proportional actions at the systems level in Madhesh Province and Karnali Province.

The Aasaman Nepal is looking for the self-motivated, result oriented and hard-working Nepali citizen for the following positions:

1. Provincial Coordinator – 2 (Madhesh & Karnali)

Objective/Purpose of the Position:

The major responsibilities of Provincial Coordinator are to ensure smooth implementation of the Build the Basics programme at the province level, ensuring proper engagement with implementing partners, government stakeholders in province, district and Palika level and providing technical support to the Palikas and other stakeholders where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordination and Networking 

  • Coordinate with provincial and local level stakeholders, and other like-minded organization while planning, implementing and monitoring the project.
  • Coordinate and communicate with team members & stakeholders for smooth and effective planning and implementing the project's intervention.
  • Coordinate with provincial, district and local level stakeholders, and other like-minded organization while organizing any events by Aasaman Nepal,
  • Represent Aasaman Nepal of Nepal in Provincial Cluster meetings and other events when necessary.

Program Planning and Implementation

  • Assist the Project Manager to prepare and update detailed implementation plan & tracker; ensure for implementing the project's activities based on the plan.
  • Provide technical backstopping to Province, District, Palikas and Implementing Partners and assist in building their capacity to ensure quality control in Build the Basics program.
  • Support to delivery Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) trainings and other capacity building trainings.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with employees, stakeholder, like minded organization and promote healthy working environment among the team members.
  • Work closely with different departments of organization for effective planning, designing and implementing Build the Basics for effective results.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting 

  • Preparation of progress reports on weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual.
  • Provide information, progress data and other required information of project-to-Project Manager as suggested by thematic departments.
  • Assist in the implementation of Build the Basics project's monitoring strategy and verify the information.   
  • Plan and execute joint monitoring visit in the project location ensuring the participation of stakeholders, beneficiaries and others.
  • Conduct regular field visit to backstop and monitoring the project's interventions.
  • Prepare, analyze and submit the report to project manager.
  • Assist to collect case stories, best practices, lesson learn; and capture that information in timely reporting system.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Development studies/Humanities/Social Science or relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in development organization with sole responsibility of managing projects and program related to education. 
  • Strong participatory management and supervision skills including interpersonal, communication, training and facilitation skills.
  • Previous successful involvement with, and good knowledge of CBOs, I/NGOs and civil society is desired.
  • Willingness to undertake regular field visits in difficult conditions is required.
  • Work experience in the respective Province would be an asset.

Languages: Strong command of Nepali, English (oral and written) and local language preferred/required.

Age Limit: Candidates between 21 years to 45 years are only eligible to apply for the above position, depending upon the nature of job they will carry.

Monitor staff and partners’ and ensure adherence to Aasaman Nepal's policies and internal procedures, protocols, Aasaman Nepal's code of Conduct with special attention to Safeguarding Standards and Procedure, Case Handling Framework, Child Protection and Do No Harm Policies. Also, immediate reporting and redress of any complaints and issues based on its severity.
