Lumanti Support Group for Shelter is a non-government organisation dedicated to the alleviation of urban poverty in Nepal through the improvement of shelter conditions. At Lumanti, shelter means the whole living environment, therefore, Lumanti's activities are wide-ranging. They include shelter upgrades, micro-finance, education and children's programmes, good governance, gender equity and advocacy. Lumanti means "memory" in the Newari language. The organization was established in 1993 in the memory of Ramesh Manandhar who died in a plane crash in 1992. Ramesh was a driving force behind moves in the early 1990's to raise awareness about urban poverty and shelter conditions.

Lumanti Support Group for Shelter a non-government organization actively contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of low-income people in Nepal through improved shelter is currently seeking applications from qualified Nepalese citizens for the Project Sub Engineer.
Position: Project Sub Engineer
Location: Jeetpursimara Sub Metropolitan City
Reporting to: Project Coordinator
Job Purpose: Support the Coordinator to implement the housing and infrastructure projects being implemented in Jeetpursimara Sub Metropolitan City
Specific activities to be performed:
- Assist the Project Coordinator in planning and implementing Bamboo houses and infrastructure projects in Jeetpursimara Sub-Metropolitan City.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for all construction works.
- Supervise construction activities to ensure quality, safety, and value for money.
- Maintain records of estimated versus actual costs for documentation and audit purposes.
- Conduct technical trainings for community members on pre-construction, construction, and post-construction processes as per requirement.
- Provide ongoing technical guidance and support to communities as needed.
- Support and provide technical assistance to maintain the Bamboo Treatment Plant, managed by the community artisans.
- Represent LUMANTI in meetings, workshops, and coordination activities as delegated by the Project Coordinator.
- Coordinate closely with the Municipality, community representatives, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit timely reports, including beneficiary data and photographic documentation.
Key Competencies:
- Intermediate level qualification in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience combining social and technical skills, particularly in working with community groups in construction programmes.
- Proven ability to work independently with a strong results-oriented mindset.
- Prior experience in bamboo housing construction will be given preference.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain strong team spirit.
- Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work flexible hours, including before/after office hours and on holidays when required.
- Strong interest in engaging in grassroots-level development activities.
- Gender-sensitive attitude and approach.
