Heifer Project Nepal (HPN) is a Nepali non-profit organization dedicated to ending hunger and poverty and caring for earth by providing livestock, education, and other resources to help poor families become self-reliant. Heifer, in collaboration with GIZ/GRAPE, is going to implement project entitled “Building Resilience Through Climate Smart Livestock Farming in Western Nepal” in Surkhet, Dailekh, Kailali, Doti, and Dadeldura districts. HPN invites applications from eligible Nepali citizens for the following field-based position:
Position: Project Officer – Livestock Technology & One Health – Nos. 2
Duration: 15 months
Major Function:
The project officer will be responsible for implementing project activities in Sudurpashchim and Karnali province as envisioned in the project “Building Resilience through Climate-smart Livestock Farming in Western Nepal” under GRAPE project. S/he will be responsible for the effective delivery of animal health and production technologies, knowledge, and skills to project participants. S/he will promote climate-smart livestock farming measures for improving and transforming existing goat and dairy farming practices. S/he will work in close collaboration and coordination with the Heifer Nepal Program team, local government, farmers’ groups, and Village Animal Health Workers.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Veterinary Science plus at least three (3) years of job-related experience is required.
- Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements.
- Candidates with prior experience of managing livestock projects as coordinator will be preferred.
