Association for Rural Social Welfare Nepal (ARSOW Nepal), the leading NGO based in Kavre district working in the various sectors i.e. WASH, Public Health, Livelihood, Social Mobilization, and Disaster Risk Management. Currently, ARSOW Nepal is seeking qualified, result oriented and self motivated Nepali citizens for the following positions under its “Increasing income generation from organic agriculture Project” in partnership with ASIA (Association for International Solidarity in Asia), an Italian NGO. The project focuses its intervention Livelihood activities, in Helambu Rural Municipality ward no. 4, Danda tole of Sindhupalchok district. Candidates meeting mentioned criteria are highly encouraged to apply for the positions.
1. Project Officer: 1 (Based in Central office, Banepa/Field office, Helambu)
Qualifications/experience required
- Experience of project management; specially in livelihood aspect,
- At least 5 years working experience in livelihood sector with at least 2 years working experience in managerial positions.
- Familiar with livelihood of rural Nepal,
- Knowledge and/or experience of agro base small enterprise development
- Excellent analytical skills and a methodical approach to work
- Excellent written communication skills with clear and concise reporting style
- Pro-active approach and ability to work unsupervised but also as part of a team
- Experience of working to tight deadlines and pressure.
- Good writing skills in English and familiar with basic computer applications,
- Bachelor Degree in Agriculture or any other related subject.
Major Responsibilities
- Overall (technical and financial), management of project activities in the selected location in accordance to approved work plan and budget.
- Responsible for program activity implementation and management, coordination, communication and networking,
- Support program/project and unit heads to mainstream sustainable livelihoods targets with defined institutional position.
- Contribute to the development of livelihood programs, strategies and initiate and participate in the development of relevant livelihoods projects.
- Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects.
- Regular supervision of field office to backstop field staff and to ensure work level coordination with local partner and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and liaison with concern local stakeholders and partners to ensure progress.
- Facilitate, coordinate and organize different meetings, workshops periodically.
- Support and guidance to implementation of the activities at the field level.
- Collect, compile, analyze and report the field data for research and knowledge development purpose including case studies and success stories.
- Maintain a good relationship with the Wards and community members, farmers and breeder.
- Draft monthly, quarterly, yearly financial projections
- Properly implement the activities as per the budget lines in the field and collect proper receipts and data as supporting documents
- Ensure all assets are being used properly
- Coordinate with the Finance/ Admin Coordinator to ensure legal compliance
- Supervision of the field staff and activities.
- Prepare and compile monthly, quarterly, annual and other periodic reports as per the need of program and organization,
- Ensure report on time form the field and concern partners,
- Coordinate regular meeting in the field office prepare minute and forward to concern unit and person,
- Support management to explore the possible funding agency and develop link.
- Perform any other task assigned by Executive Director, Chairperson and Executive Board.
2. Accountant: 1 (Based in Central office, Banepa/Field office, Helambu)
Qualifications/experience required
- At least Bachelors' Degree in Management (BBA. BBS BA etc)
- Good knowledge on financial/account system of NGOs,
- Substantial knowledge on taxation of Nepal,
- Comprehensive knowledge and a minimum of 3 years of proven experience in core financial management activities such as budgeting, forecasting, and reporting (Prior experience with Asia's Funding project is added value).
- Sound knowledge and experience of fund management,
- Strong numeracy skills and attention to details.
- Able to operate accounting software-tally/FINMEN and have strong proven experience in using Excel Spreadsheets.
Major Responsibilities
- Facilitating communication on financial status between all the stakeholders i.e. ASIA team, national counter parts, ARSOW Nepal, project staff, community leaders, policy influencers in the implementation site,
- Provide all types of accounting information to executive board, subcommittee, program Manager, other related stakeholder Manage the recruitment and selection process,
- Prepare detail plan of action of the account submission and activities carried out.
- Provide technical quality services to concern stakeholders.
- Coordinate between project team, national counter parts, ARSOW Nepal for accounting system,
- Timely manage fund for smooth implementation of the project, compile accounts and submit the authentic statement of expenditure to ASIA.
- Prepare and manage regular financial work on cheque issue, vouching, accounts,
- Support to conduct regular revive meeting with stakeholders.
- Prepare periodic financial progress report and submit to all the stakeholders for necessary information and action.
3. Junior Technical Assistant: 1 (Based in Field office, Helambu)
Qualifications/experience required
- Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent to CTEVT.
- At least 3 years of work experience in similar job responsibilities
- Experience of facilitating agriculture and livestock training event; theoretical and practical at terai region of Nepal.
- Formal additional study/training in social development, organic farming, or other related areas;
- Experience working with local authorities and with an NGO.
- Good knowledge of the rural Nepal and topography of Sindhupalchok,
- Good communication skills and able to communicate in English,
- Willing to work with various communities and cast groups.
- Basic computer knowledge (email, word, excel).
- Ready to work in rural areas with frequent travel by walk from one village to another.
Major Responsibilities
- Support the project team in the design of the future activities.
- Organize farmers’ trainings and coordination meetings as per DIP.
- Organize, facilitate and train farmers’ groups/cooperatives on cultivation of organic vegetables as well as on other capacity building programs.
- Participate in the identification of the beneficiaries of future activities
- Meet the potential beneficiaries in order to check their criteria of eligibility
- Support the farmers in assessing the market and identify market opportunities in the area in selected commodities.
- Organize meetings and focus groups discussions if requested by the project team
- Follow-up the implementation and post-implementation of the activities at the field level.
- Support the organization of meetings and events when necessary.
- Maintain a good relationship with the community members and local key stakeholders
- Perform any other task assigned by Executive Director and Project Officer.
