KOSHISH, established in 2008, is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting mental health and psychosocial well-being in Nepal. Embracing the spirit of "NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US," KOSHISH advocates for the inclusion and meaningful participation of individuals with mental health issues and psychosocial disabilities. KOSHISH actively engages in community-based mental health programs, awareness campaigns, and advocacy efforts. Our overarching goal is to mainstream mental health within the broader health system and societal domains, such as social protection, education, inclusion, and employment.
Job Summary
The Project Officer, based in Kapilvastu, is responsible for implementing, coordinating, monitoring, and reporting project activities under the Strengthening Health Systems for the Provision of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services in Rural Municipalities of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini Province (Supported by GIZ) project. The role works closely with local governments, health facilities, community stakeholders, and the central project team to ensure the effective delivery of project activities, strengthen partnerships, and achieve project objectives in compliance with donor and organizational standards.
Duration: Initially one year with possible extension based on performance and funding availability.
Key Result Areas and Responsibilities
Project Management:
- Lead implementation of project activities as focal person for assigned municipality.
- Develop annual and periodic plans with team and Project Coordinator.
- Conduct review, monitoring, and reporting of progress against project indicators.
- Capture learning and document best practices.
- Work with Admin/Finance Officer to ensure program-finance linkage.
- Facilitate partner and donor visits.
Coordination, Collaboration, and Advocacy:
- Build collaboration with local governments, health facilities, CBOs, and organizations of persons with disabilities.
- Advocate for mainstreaming rights and services in local government plans.
- Support provincial advocacy with Project Coordinator and Program Manager.
- Represent KOSHISH in local forums with approval from Project Coordinator.
- Documentation, Database Management and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed project documentation and databases.
- Submit timely reports to Project Coordinator.
- Develop success stories and capture learning and beneficiary data.
- Ensure donor-compliant and timely reporting.
Safety & Security
- Ensure safety of project team during field implementation.
- Identify and manage potential risks in collaboration with central office.
Safeguarding:
- Promote safeguarding practices within all project activities.
- Ensure compliance with all safeguarding and prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH) policies.

- Understanding of MHPSS, safeguarding, and donor compliance is an advantage.
