ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY
United Mission to Nepal Medical Development Trust (UMN MDT) is a public trust that aims to enable the poorest people living in poverty to transform their lives, leading towards the fullness of life. As we serve the people of Nepal, multicultural teams of Nepali and volunteer expatriate staff work alongside local organisations in eleven districts (nine clusters) and operate two mission hospitals, United Mission Hospital Tansen in Palpa and Okhaldhunga Community Hospital in Okhaldhunga, building partnerships that foster healthy, dignified, and empowered individuals and transformed communities.
Position: Project Manager - Resilient Livelihoods (Roots to Resilience)

Based in: Karnali Province Cluster, Birendranagar, Surkhet
The main purpose of this position is to lead and ensure the successful implementation of the Seed of Change: Roots to Resilience (R2R) Project, while contributing to UMN MDT’s Karnali Province Cluster strategy through effective capacity building, relationship building, project management, and the provision of technical expertise.
Qualifications and Experiences:
- A Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Climate Change, or a related field, with at least three years of professional experience in resilient livelihoods, enterprise development, climate resilience, disaster risk reduction and integrated project management; OR a Bachelor’s Degree in the above disciplines with at least five years of relevant professional experience.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of livelihoods and poverty, food security, agricultural and non-agricultural market systems, climate resilience, disaster risk reduction and social empowerment in the context of rural Nepal.
- Skills in climate-resilient agriculture, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), green enterprises and agribusiness development.
- Skills in people-centred market system development, including market assessment, training needs assessment and business plan development.
- Experience in conducting Climate and Disaster Vulnerability and Capacity Assessments (CVCA) and supporting the development of community-based resilience and adaptation plans.
- Experience in community empowerment approaches, such as community empowerment process, self-help approach and participatory action reflection.
- Experience in group capacity assessment and strengthening, and in mainstreaming
- Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), as well as addressing harmful social practices.
- Strong skills and experience in project management, including design, planning, budgeting, monitoring, reporting, and developing concept notes and proposals.
- Sound understanding of results framework and indicators, including their measurement, with practical experience in monitoring, data management, and reporting using tools such as Excel and KoboCollect.
- Skills in coordination, rapport building and networking with local and district-level stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
