HEAD Nepal is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to lead its new year-long initiative, "Building Climate-Resilient and Inclusive Communities with a Focus on Human Rights in Humla". In partnership with Mission East, HEAD Nepal is implementing the project in Namkha and Simkot Rural Municipality of Humla district. This project aims to empower communities in Humla to adapt to the impacts of climate change and build sustainable practices. HEAD Nepal is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to empowering people with disabilities (PWDs) in the Humla district of Nepal.

Position: Project Manager

About the Role:

This position is based in Simkot, Humla with frequent travel to Simkot and Namkha Rural Municipalities. The Project Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the successful implementation of the project and will be responsible for:

  • Project Leadership: Overseeing all project activities, ensuring they are implemented effectively and on schedule.
  • Capacity Building: Leading training for farmers and local organizations on climate-smart agriculture, irrigation systems, soil conservation, and climate adaptation strategies.
  • Resource Management: Supervising the distribution of agricultural inputs, irrigation equipment, and other project resources.
  • Community Engagement: Building strong relationships with local communities, farmers' groups, CSOs, and government entities.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Tracking project progress, collecting data, and preparing reports for donors and stakeholders.
  • Sustainability Planning: Developing strategies to ensure the long-term impact of the project's interventions.
  • Coordination: Building strong relationships and coordinating with project partners, government representatives, stakeholders, and communities.
  • Advocacy: Conducting advocacy and lobbying activities at the local and district level regarding inclusive climate solutions.
  • Developing and disseminating accessible Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials on climate change and disability
  • Managing project data and reporting to donors and the management committee
  • Supervising climate change awareness sessions and research activities
  • Supporting other activities as assigned by the Executive Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant field, preferably in the development or environmental sector.
  • Strong understanding of climate change issues and adaptation strategies.
  • Proven experience in project coordination, reporting, training delivery, advocacy, and field mobilization
  • Experience working in Humla or similar remote locations is a strong asset.
  • Experience working on disability rights and climate change is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency in MS Office package and internet applications
  • Strong social media and digital platform skills
