OHW works with local communities and local health service providers to develop a culturally appropriate Network of Safety around mothers and infants, by raising awareness, teaching good practices, and distributing essential equipment to ensure that mothers and infants survive delivery and the first months of life.

Job Description

Position: Project Manager

Duty Station: Lalitpur, Nepal

The Project Manager will provide secretariat support for the global mentorship projects of the rural obstetrics ultrasound program across multiple countries. This role includes offering technical backstopping and programmatic support for piloting and scaling up the rural ultrasound program, under the leadership of One Heart Worldwide. It necessitates maintaining close and effective coordination with donors, partners and government stakeholders. This position may require frequent local and international field visits.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordination and Liaising:

  • Serve as the focal point for the rural obstetrics ultrasound program global mentorship project, and work under the guidance of the supervisor and OHW senior management team and supervisor.
  • Conduct steering committee meetings and track progress as required.
  • Ensure proper documentation and the sharing of relevant information with steering committee members or member organizations.
  • Coordinate and establish liaisons with the National Health Training Center, Family Welfare Division, provincial training centers, and training sites associated with the ROUSG program in Nepal.
  • Provide technical assistance to the design and implementation of training curricula, quality improvement tools, mentorship programs, and enhancements for training sites.

Technical and Programmatic Support:

  • Offer technical support for program design, monitor and evaluate activities, and effectively communicate success/results in relevant forums
  • Create and manage databases through which to share relevant documents and best practices with steering committee members.
  • Function as a knowledge and information management resource related to the rural ultrasound program.
  • Host various events, including local, national, and international gatherings related to the rural ultrasound program organized by DAK, MoHP, and OHW.
  • Collect pertinent data and information from various partners, synthesize it, and disseminate the information.
  • Prepare and share routine data, information, and reports.
  • Any job assigned by the supervisor

Secretariat Support to DAK Foundation:

  • Provide secretariat support to the DAK Foundation to facilitate the expansion of the rural ultrasound program in DAK priority countries.
  • Prepare comprehensive meeting notes and action items, ensuring diligent follow-up.
  • Organize regular and ad-hoc meetings, discussions, and lessons-learned sessions.
  • Facilitate, host, or provide support for events organized by the DAK Foundation as necessary.

Job Specifications (minimum job requirements):

Qualification and work experience:

  • Preferred qualifications include a Master's in Public Health with a nursing/clinical background and a minimum of five years of experience in Nepal's Health Care Delivery System, specifically in Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health
  • Preferred candidates will possess a distinct advantage if they can demonstrate a proven track record of success in roles within international organizations. This includes a strong proficiency in navigating the complexities of diverse cultural and regulatory landscapes. 

Skills and abilities:

  • Good clinical skills, and experience in working with MoHP health services. 
  • Experiences in Public Health and Maternal Child Health area.
  • Knowledge and experience in global health delivery systems.
  • Practical experience in facilitation and interaction with government counterpart/local stakeholders at different local health facilities, and ability to deal with various stakeholders
  • Knowledge and experience using MS Office packages and basic statistical packages, email, and the Internet.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in both verbal and written communication in English and Nepali
  • Good interpersonal skills and experience working in a team in a multicultural/ international environment.
  • Sets high standards for quality of work and consistently.
  • Ability to function as a self-starter with limited supervision.
