Handicap International Federation (HI) is an independent and impartial aid organization, created in 1982, working across 63 countries. HI works alongside the vulnerable populations, whatever the context, taking action to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. Present in Nepal since 2000, HI works through a network of local partner organizations in the area of health and physical rehabilitation, inclusive education and resilience including emergency response to improve the living conditions and involvement of the most vulnerable populations in Nepal. 

HI Nepal invites application for the following position for an anticipatory grant on Equity and Inclusion in Education funded by USAID:

1. Project Manager– 1 position

Terms & Conditions: Fixed Term Contract (Contingent upon successful acquisition of Grant)

Base Location: Country Office, Kathmandu Nepal

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure project implementation, in collaboration with consortium partners,  relevant services and in line with general standards and procedures of the organization. Ensure capacity of the  implementing partners on Inclusive Education and  for Education EI project activities 
  • Ensures that activities are implemented in line with the project proposal, donor guidelines and the allocated budget
  • Prepare and monitor partnership agreements with implementing partners and other potential partners
  • Ensure the effective implementation and follow up of institutional policies (PSEA, mandatory cross-cutting approaches, donor risk management approaches on safeguarding etc.) on his/her project
  • Take the lead in preparing and formalising partnerships agreements ensuring transparency and accountability on both sides.
  • Ensure efficient utilisation of the available financial resources, track expenses and ensure value for money
  • Ensure the terms of the financial commitments made to the donor is strictly adhered to, technically sound and relevant to the field realities
  • Build the capacity of the project team on the project components, general and organizational management as per the guidelines to ensure the staffs under the responsibility have the capacity to carry on the activity at the field level to the full satisfaction of the project
  • Contribute in new Project Design/ Development as required by the organization
  • Represent HI in different Government and Non- Government forums as and when required

Qualification and Skills Required

  • Master’s degree in Education, Arts, Rural Development, Social Work and other Social Sciences or related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience development projects (especially in the area of Education/ Inclusive Education and Disability or related field)
  • Proven experience in implementation of projects 
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Relevant professional experience in the area of Education/ Inclusive Education and Disability or related field would be added advantage
  • Knowledge of education system, disability in Nepal is desirable
  • Capacity to build and maintain effective working relations with national/local authorities, relevant institutions, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations.
  • Good analytical, organizational and operational skills
  • Creative and strong leadership skill with strategic thinking capabilitiy
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines
