Handicap International Federation (HI) is an independent and impartial aid organization, created in 1982, working across 63 countries. HI works alongside the vulnerable populations, whatever the context, taking action to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. Present in Nepal since 2000, HI works through a network of local partner organizations in the area of health and physical rehabilitation, inclusive education and resilience including emergency response to improve the living conditions and involvement of the most vulnerable populations in Nepal. 

For the implementation of one of its education project, HI Nepal invites applications for the following position:

Project Manager – 1 position 

Terms & Conditions:  Fixed Term contract till July 2024

Location: Country Office, Kathmandu, Nepal

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensures effective project implementation, in collaboration with consortium partners, relevant services and in line with HI’s program quality principles and standards & donor requirements.
  • Take lead in developing and maintaining dynamic partnerships with consortium partners as well as implementing partners for project activities. 
  • Facilitate joint monitoring and reporting of progress of agreed actions, theory of change and result framework and facilitates joint decision making for any course correction where necessary
  • Ensure efficient utilisation of the available financial resources, track expenses and ensure value for money
  • Ensure the effective implementation and follow up of institutional policies (PSEA, mandatory cross-cutting approaches, donor risk management approaches on safeguarding etc.) on his/her project. 
  • Effective management and supervision of the project team Ensures that the appropriate data collection and management tools are in place on the project, in line with HI standards. 
  • Ensure a working Knowledge Management mechanism, where the progress, deliverables etc. are properly managed and documented over the course of implementation
  • Produce project capitalisation and learning from experience material

Qualification and Skills Required: 

  • Master’s degree in Education, Inclusive/Special Need Education, Social Sciences or related field with atleast 5 years of relevant experience in the field of education preferably with disability and inclusion exposure in development organizations at senior/managerial level
  • Demonstrated expertise in effective and efficient management and implementation of the  education program
  • Experience in consortium and partnership approach.
  • Good communication, coordination, negotiation and networking skills
  • Interpersonal skill to build and maintain effective working relations with all stakeholders
  • Creative and strong team player with strategic, analytic thinking skills
  • Knowledge of education system and disability in Nepal
  • Fluent  in writing  and  speaking English
