Job Description – Project Manager

Fair Trade Group Nepal (FTGN) is a national network of Fair Trading Organization in Nepal. The Organization seeks to promote advancement of the socio economic status of underprivileged producers across the country. To achieve this, it has been working towards developing constructive collaboration among the Fair Trading Organizations to influence policy and promote Fair Trade at national, regional and international levels.

FTGN is seeking to recruit full time Professional as below:

Position: Project Manager (PM)

Type: One year contract with possibility of extension

Duty Location: FTGN office in Lalitpur

Reporting to: Director

Starting Date: October 2021

Summary of Position:

This position serves as a focal person to lead, facilitate and support FTGN’s project titled “Enhancing Livelihood Resilience through Fair Trade”. The project is supported by IM Swedish Development Partner and aims to contribute to poverty reduction through Fair Trade targeting women and youth from marginalized communities. The position will be based in FTGN's Office in Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur and will require travel to districts in the country. The overall responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following tasks.

  • Project management including planning, budgeting, implementation support to partners, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of project activities.
  • Coordinate and build relations with different stakeholders and market actors for promotion of products produced by producers/ farmers.
  • Coordinate studies conducted by the project, provide strategic directions and guidance to the researchers and consultants and ensure the quality of research and knowledge production.
  • Communicate, coordinate and establish a networking with FTGN's member organizations, IM Swedish Development Partner, Project Partners, funding partners, Government Authorities and civil societies to foster Fair Trade movement in Nepal through different activities under the Project.
  • Coordinate and facilitate in organizing training, workshops, conferences, symposiums and other similar events.

Requirements:

  • Minimum two years of experience of managing programs and projects, preferably livelihood, enterprise development;
  • Sound knowledge of the context in which handicraft business, agribusinesses, enterprises operate in Nepal;
  • Experience of designing and conducting baseline assessments, developing and conducting M&E of the projects;
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills with experience in advocacy and communication strategies;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Nepali and English;
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Business, enterprise development or relevant field;
