Position Title: Project Coordinator – Mental Health and Awareness Project

About the Organization:
Care and Development Organization (CDO) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization committed to alleviating extreme poverty and improving the quality of life of marginalized and vulnerable populations in Nepal. CDO focuses on underprivileged groups, including children working in brick and carpet factories, internally displaced people, and women in need, through health care, education, empowerment, and skill development initiatives.
About the Project:
The Mental Health and Awareness Project is a three-year initiative implemented in Godawari Municipality (Ward 3 & 14) and community schools in Lalitpur District. The project aims to reduce anxiety, stress, and depression among mental health patients and promote mental well-being in the community through preventive healthcare, awareness, education, counseling, and economic empowerment.
Key Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of all project activities. Major duties include:
- Lead the overall implementation and coordination of the Mental Health and Awareness Project.
- Facilitate mental health screening, counseling, referrals, and support for mental health patients.
- Coordinate health education sessions in communities and schools.
- Organize training and orientation sessions for FCHVs and schoolteachers on mental health.
- Supervise therapeutic group activities, tele-counseling, and school-based mental health initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate project progress, prepare periodic reports, and conduct social audits.
- Coordinate with stakeholders including local government bodies, health workers, schools, and community leaders.
- Ensure all activities follow the government protocols and Nepal government health guidelines.
- Develop and Promote awareness through materials such as posters, wall paintings, and pamphlets.
- Facilitate quarterly and monthly coordination and monitoring meetings with relevant stakeholders.
- Provide administrative oversight for budgeting, procurement, and logistics related to the project.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in project coordination, preferably in mental health or community health projects.
- Sound knowledge of mental health issues, community mobilization, and referral mechanisms.
- Strong skills in training, counseling, and facilitation.
- Experience working with schools, FCHVs, and local governments is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Nepali and English. Knowledge of local ethnic languages is an asset.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, reporting, documentation).
- Willingness to travel frequently to project sites and work with grassroots communities.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently under pressure.
Contract Type:
Full-time, one-year contract with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
Remuneration:
Gross: NPR 35,000/- (Thirty-five thousand rupees only) per month
