BEE Group is an autonomous, independent, non-partisan, nonprofit-making, independent non-governmental organization. It was established in 2000 AD, registered in the District Administration Office, Banke, and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council, Nepal. Currently, it is serving in the Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Province of the country for the protection and promotion of human rights, environment conservation, and community development implementing different projects regarding child protection, sustainable livelihoods, health and nutrition, occupational health safety, education, water sanitation, and hygiene, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and alternative energy. Since its establishment, it has been working on the rights-based approach to issues of social justice, peace, and democracy. It works for the attainment of peace, development, and justice through peoples’ meaningful participation and bottom-up approach by building a trustworthy reputation. 

BEE Group is going to implement an anticipated project, namely: The Resilient Livelihoods for Earthquake-affected Families (RELIEF) project in the Rukum West district in partnership with Oxfam. The project aims to improve food security and livelihood of earthquake-affected communities, particularly women, through climate-resilient agriculture, promotion of local enterprises, and enhancing marketing access. BEE Group is seeking a qualified, experienced, and self-motivated project coordinator for the mentioned project.

1. Position: Project Coordinator - One

Duty Station: Based at the field office, Rukum West, and frequently visits the project area. 

Job Summary: The project coordinator (PC) will be responsible for providing overall leadership to the project reporting to the partner organization and donor agency. The major duties include; planning the project activities, budgeting, and implementation, and monitoring and reporting as a team leader based on the monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning framework and assurance of the quality of the project interventions. The PC will facilitate the local government, civil society organizations, and vulnerable communities to improve food security and livelihoods of earthquake-affected communities, particularly women through climate-resilient agriculture practices, promoting local enterprises, and enhancing the market system. The PC will play an effective role in bringing synergy between like-minded stakeholders to achieve the desired results.

Key responsibility: 

  • Take the lead in developing monthly, quarterly, and annual plans for the project based on the MEAL framework in coordination with the executive director of BEE Group. 
  • Carry out the baseline survey, analyze data, and ensure the interventions have an adequate understanding of the project plan and approaches by staff and stakeholders and provide necessary technical guidance to them for smooth implementation of the project activities achieving the desired results. 
  • Facilitate and support poor, vulnerable, seasonal migrant workers, and earthquake-affected households for enhancing the skills and knowledge for increasing agriculture production and income generation from the on-farm and off-farm activities leading towards climate resilient livelihoods. 
  • Timely and quality delivery of the project activities including training, workshops, and support to the targeted community and individual.
  • Facilitate and support underprivileged and marginalized women from earthquake-affected communities in enhancing their skills and knowledge of climate-resilient farming practices to increase food production, productivity, and income generation for sustainable livelihoods. 
  • Facilitate the demonstration of model farming for nutritious food production by adopting agroecological practices like inter-cropping, crop rotation, and integrated pest management technology for healthy food production.  
  • Facilitate and support the local people, community leaders, and the local government in developing a plan to mitigate the climate-induced disaster impact, set up the early warning system, and integrate participatory disaster risk and climate change adaptation plan and mainstream into the government plan. 
  • Facilitate and support the project team in formulation and revision of community disaster risk reduction and management plan and implementation with local resource mobilization. 
  • Facilitate capacity building of farmers to develop the business model for climate-resilient agriculture and enterprise engaging the private sector for sustainable livelihoods.
  • Facilitate influencing the local government to develop policies, plans, and resource mobilization for women's empowerment and climate-resilient agriculture and enterprises.  
  • Facilitate in mainstreaming of gender equality and social inclusion in the project interventions tackling the social norms and ensuring the meaningful participation of the marginalized community and individuals.   
  • Facilitate and ensure proper management of financial transactions referring to compliances. 
  • Documentation, generation of appropriate knowledge product as per the project plan, and MEAL frameworks, and reporting to the partner organization and donor agency according to the agreed standards and timely manner. 
  • Work closely with the local government, and civil society organizations like women's groups, leader farmers, community disaster management committees, and targeted communities and ensure the highest level of coordination for the smooth implementation of project interventions.
  • Support and facilitate the project team in collecting the project progress, challenges, and opportunities and reporting to the partner organization regularly. 
  • Ensure practice is established for a reflective learning environment within a project team, and organization and functioning of strong and effective teamwork. 
  • Make sure that project data is being collected from the field regularly, analyze them against quality benchmarks, and share them with the partner organization periodically.
  • Have frequent visits to monitor the project interventions in the field with a checklist prepared based on the MEAL framework.  
  • Support MEAL units in conducting the baseline/end-line survey, research, developing M&E plan, and implementation.
  • Ensure the data quality of the periodic report, verify those data and information from the sources periodically on a sample basis, and orient the field staff at the site for further improvement.
  • Organize quarterly review meetings of the project at the district or municipal level, identify the gaps and issues, and take action accordingly for further improvement.
  • Organize joint monitoring visits with government stakeholders at a project area for their information and updates about the project interventions and collection of feedback for further improvement.
  • Organize the community feedback mechanism and support in strengthening the system to ensure the accountability and quality of the program and capitalization of the best practices and learning as knowledge management.   
  • Document the learning and major findings of the project interventions and share them with the partner organization and stakeholders regularly.

Competencies and personal specification: 

  • Strong conceptual, and interpersonal communication, negotiation, facilitation, and representation skills with working experiences in areas of resilience framework in climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.  
  • Proven knowledge, skills, and experience in leading a team, managing the integrated multi-thematic (Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Livelihoods) project engaging the youth and social behaviour change communication, building relationships, working in partnership with local government, and civil society organizations, and maintaining the congenial working relationship with all stakeholders. 
  • Proven knowledge and experience in overall agriculture production value chain including enterprise development, private sector engagement, and social protection.  
  • Demonstrated skills in team building with an ability to coach and mentor the project team and documentation of the learning, challenges, and best practices for knowledge capitalization.  
  • Proven knowledge and skills in program planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Proven experience in working with diverse communities, cultures, and the ability to cope with stress and decision-making with appropriate communication.
  • Proven skill and knowledge in working for women's empowerment and transformative leadership development.   
  • Good command of English and Nepali both written and spoken with MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture with three years of work experience in climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and resilient livelihoods. The candidate must be willing to travel in the community frequently.
