Project: SLUMS TO STADIUM: Equalizing the Playing Field for Marginalized Youths through Football in Urban Slums of Nepal (Project S2S)

Implementing Organization for Bara District: Protection Nepal

Funding: Child Nepal /European Union Delegation to Nepal

Protection Nepal, in partnership with the Child Nepal/European Union Delegation to Nepal, is implementing the “Slums to Stadium (S2S)” project under Lot 3 – Youths and Sports as a co-applicant for Bara district. The project aims to empower marginalized youth from slum communities through football coaching, sports-based entrepreneurship, and strong safeguarding systems in and Bara districts.

Protection Nepal invites applications from qualified, committed, and motivated Nepali citizens for the following full-time positions:

Position: Football Coach (फुटबल प्रशिक्षक)

Duty Station: Bara District 

Reporting to: Project Officer 

Duration: 18 months 

Expected Start Date: Mid-April 2026

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Technical Training Delivery 

  • Train 300 local youths (Boys & Girls) in football across the project area in Bara District, in accordance with the project guidelines.
  • Implement three-module cascade-based football training program (Grassroots Skills, Football Theory & Sports Education, and Advanced Position-Specific Training) as outlined in the project methodology.
  • Deliver theoretical workshops on FIFA Laws of the Game, basic tactics, and sports science education.
  • Collaborate with certified medical trainers during the First Aid & Sports Injury Prevention workshops.
  • Ensure all training sessions are safe, inclusive, and pedagogically sound, adapting methods to accommodate diverse learning needs and skill levels.

2. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Talent Scouting 

  • Administer standardized Pre- and Post-Skills Assessments for all participants to objectively measure technical and tactical improvement, maintaining accurate Individual Performance Scorecards.
  • Implement a performance evaluation protocol during "Inter-Team Friendly Matches" to identify top-performing athletes (90 male, 90 female per district) for the S2S Championship.
  • Provide technical data and insights to support the creation of player profiles for the Football Talent Showcase & Player Auction.

3. Mentorship, Safeguarding, and Social Inclusion 

  • Act as a positive role model and mentor, fostering life skills such as discipline, teamwork, leadership, and resilience among participants.
  • Strictly adhere to and enforce the project's Code of Conduct and Child Safeguarding Policy, creating a safe environment free from harassment, discrimination, and abuse.
  • Actively encourage and support the participation and retention of female athletes, helping to challenge and dismantle patriarchal norms on and off the field.
  • Promote an atmosphere of respect and inclusion for participants from all backgrounds, including Dalit, Indigenous, Madhesi, Muslim, and LGBTIQ+ communities.

4. Coordination, Reporting, and Logistics 

  • Maintain accurate records of training attendance, session content, and participant progress.
  • Coordinate closely to manage training equipment, inventory, and logistics at the Training Hubs.
  • Report any operational challenges, safeguarding concerns, or disciplinary issues to the Program officer  immediately.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Education: At least a Sports Training Certificate or Intermediate-level degree (Bachelor level preferable)
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a football coach, with a focus on youth development and grassroots football.
  • Licenses: A valid football coaching license (minimum 'C' License or preferable ‘B’ License) recognized by ANFA.
