DanChurchAid (DCA) is a faith-based, non-missionary organisation. We work for the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded communities and believe in life before death. In Nepal, we are involved in three thematic areas i.e. resilient livelihood and sustainable food security, active citizenship, and Humanitarian response and Disaster Risk Response. DCA invites applications from qualified and competent Nepalese candidates for the following positions.

(1) Programme Manager– Humanitarian Response and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)– 1: This is a senior level and thematic lead position for DCA's Humanitarian and DRR programme in Nepal. This position is based in Kathmandu with frequent field visits. S/he will be responsible to provide result based strategic guidance, leadership management and capacity building to the DCA team and staff of partner organisations in respective area. The Programme Manager will be responsible for overall programme planning and strategy development, partners’ portfolio management, fund raising, and innovation in promoting the vision, mission, and strategic goals of DCA in general and Humanitarian and DRR programme in particular. The position may also entail direct management of humanitarian responses. The Programme Manager is expected to monitor humanitarian and DRR context, identify gaps, and ensure timely and adequate information on disasters unfolding in Nepal.  Further, this position is responsible to ensure timely, efficient, effective and accountable humanitarian response, develop capacity of staff and partners in relevant field, mainstream humanitarian and DRR strategies into other program, and deliver response and DRR programme in line with DCA’s strategy. This position requires extensive networking and advocacy skill and should have sufficient experience of proposals writing and securing funding in the relevant sector. Candidates having understanding and experience of executing cash-based programming and urban disaster risk management will be preferred.

Required qualifications, skills and competencies: Postgraduate degree in Disaster Risk Management, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences or related field; Minimum ten years of working experience in emergency response and development works of which minimum 5 years in an international organisation with similar responsibilities in humanitarian response and DRR, including experience in working in partnership with national and local CSOs ; Experience in managing emergency responses; Expected expertise in cash transfer programming and Urban DRR; Familiar with needs assessments, market analysis, DRR, shelter, WASH, humanitarian advocacy, accountability and impact measurement; Experience of the humanitarian coordination system, humanitarian standards and principles, and humanitarian accountability initiatives; Ability to understand and design budgets, human resources management, procurement and logistics; Experience in policy advocacy on humanitarian aid at national and international level; Working and management experience with ECHO, DANIDA, and other donors' projects and formats.

(2) Project Coordinator -1: This is a mid-level position and falls under the Resilient Livelihood Thematic Area of DCA Nepal's programme. The Project Coordinator (PC) will be responsible to lead the EU Funded project "UTHAN- Enhanced Action of Inclusive CSOs for Participation in Climate Resilient Economic " in Kanchanpur and Dailekh Districts of Nepal. In this capacity, s/he will be responsible for the overall project management through strategic planning followed by implementation, coordination with local partners, government bodies (4 Palikas from two Provinces, and Provincial government of Sudurpaschim and Karnali Pradesh), and other relevant stakeholders. The PC will be based in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur and will have extensive field visits within Kanchanpur and to Dailekh District (50% to Dailekh). Provided the nature of the project, the PC will constantly be in contact with agencies working on Disaster Risk Management climate change mitigation, adaptation, entrepreneurship development, CSOs strengthening and coordination at the local government.

Required qualifications, skills and competencies: Postgraduate degree in Environmental Sciences, Disaster Risk Reduction, Forestry, Social Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Development Studies or any other relevant field; Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience in DRR, Climate or related field; Previous experience of managing EU funded projects; Excellent knowledge of and practical experience on climate change policies, DRR related international and national instruments, policies and practices; Strong coordination, leadership and interpersonal communication skill; Ability and willingness to work in team and to work under pressure and in remote locations/ difficult circumstances; Prior work experience in the western part of Nepal will be considered an added advantage.

(3) Project Coordinator -1 (subject to funding availability): This is a mid-level position and falls under the Active Citizenship Thematic Area of DCA Nepal's programme. The Project Coordinator (PC) will be responsible to lead the Housing Reconstruction Project in Dhading District of Nepal.  In this capacity, s/he will be responsible for the overall project management through strategic planning followed by implementation, coordination with local partners, government bodies, and other relevant stakeholders. The PC will be based in the project office in Dhading district and will have extensive field visits to the project Palikas (Gajuri, Ganga Jamuna and Khaniyabas). Provided the nature of the project, the PC will constantly be in contact with the local government agencies, local chapter of NRA, shelter actors in the districts and private sector agencies.
 
Required qualifications, skills and competencies: Post graduate degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Disaster Risk Management, Environmental Management, Development Studies or any other related field; Minimum of two years' experience in Post-Earthquake Housing Reconstruction; Minimum five to seven years of relevant experience in humanitarian response and/or disaster risk management; Excellent reports writing skills; Strong coordination, leadership and interpersonal communication skill; Fluency in oral and written skills in English and Nepali; Ability and willingness to work in team and to work under pressure and in remote locations/ difficult circumstances. This position is highly delivery oriented and hence, qualified candidates who can join immediately will be prioritised.
