Sancharika Samuha Nepal is a dynamic forum of women journalists and communicators that was established in April 1996 with the aim of advancing the "Women and Media" Section of the Beijing Platform for Action in Nepal. With more than 1,200 affiliated women journalists from all parts of the country, SASN has created provincial networks in each of Nepal's seven provinces and is actively expanding its presence at the district level. This dedication to expanding its influence allows SASN to offer assistance to women journalists and communicators across Nepal. Sancharika Samuha Nepal has been dedicatedly working towards promoting the welfare and empowerment of the community through social campaigns. The organization prioritizes its advocacy program to create social awareness, bring about positive changes in people's attitudes and behaviors towards various issues, and establish campaigns that benefit the community and society. The target groups for these advocacy programs include government officials, policy makers, social activists, political analysts, editors and publishers, as well as members of citizen networks, among others. By cementing the voice that advocates for the welfare of the community, Sancharika aims to effect positive change in society.

Vacancy Announcement for the Program Officer and Finance Officer

1. Designation:  Program Officer

Time period: 1 year

Number of Vacancy: 01

Duty Station:  Sancharika Samuha Nepal, Jwagal, Lalitpur, Nepal  

Line Manager: President, SASN and Program and Operation Manager

Areas of Responsibility (AoRs):

The Program officer will be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Manage all aspects of program management and reporting.
  • Develop and implement a clear and comprehensive project plan, outlining the specific responsibilities and duties of each project team member.
  • Prepare and review project reports, analyzing progress and providing technical advice and solutions to ensure project success, reporting to the Board Committee. Continuously monitor progress and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor progress of each project to ensure compliance with financial, administrative, and HR guidelines and work with the team to collect data and prepare progress reports for donors on a regular basis, as per the requirements outlined in each project agreement.
  • Actively engage in initiating best practices, key learnings, unique cases, and other relevant documentation to share with the wider team

Details requirements:

Education: 

  • Bachelor Relevant graduate qualification, preferably development studies, Social Science/Humanities, management, or relevant field

Work Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Program Officer in development field .Coordinating with team members and stakeholders to implement development projects supported by international donor agencies.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the intersection of media, development, and gender, specifically in regards to women's rights and gender equality within media industries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including strong presentation skills.

2. Designation:  Finance and Admin Officer

Time period: 1 year

Duty Station:  Sancharika Samuha Nepal, Jwagal, Lalitpur, Nepal  

Line Manager: President, SASN, Program and Operation Manager

Dotted Line Manager: Project steering committee, SASN

Areas of Responsibility (AoRs):

The Finance Officer will be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Ensure the tax calculation and deduction on the source of payment as per Income tax act of Nepal. Preparation of Tax, cheque and deposition on time.
  • Review and verify vouchers/invoices to ensure accurate documentation of all financial
  • transactions carried out by the organization.
  • Manage overall recording, reporting of the expenses and overall tasks related to financial process of assigned   projects
  • Prepares reports and documents covering accounting transactions for management review
  • Ensures that accurate records are kept by standard practices
  • Establishes budgets, forecasts future cash flows, provides periodic financial analysis
  • Manages invoicing procedures to collect money owed by clients/customers
  • Develop monthly, quarterly financial reports as per organization and donor requirements.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements and balance sheet reconciliations for
  • monthly closing.
  • Ensure timely payment and reimbursements made for all transactions.
  • Maintain highest working and integrity 
  • Support in carrying out internal and external auditing functions.
  • Support for the management of project activities through timely release of funds,
  • Confirmation of accuracy of documentation, and timely settlement of advance.
  • Manage assets register, carrying out physical verification of assets according to financial
  • management rules and regulations and ensure accuracy of non-recurring items stock book
  • Communities to facilitate good financial management systems and practices.

Details requirements:

Education: 

  • Bachelor on management/BBS/BBA/ especially in Finance and Accounting 

Work Experience: 

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Finance and Admin Officer or 4 years in Finance and Admin Assistant in development field. 
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of financial management in the development field and a good understanding of the tax and VAT rules of the government of Nepal.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali, sound knowledge on accounting software.
