1.  Nepal Livelihood and Resilience Program Phase II (NLRP II)

Project Background

Caritas Nepal has been implementing the Nepal Livelihood and Resilience Program (NLRP) with financial support from Caritas Australia and the Australian Government since July 2018. Building on the achievements of the first phase (2018–2023), the Nepal Livelihood and Resilience Program Phase II (NLRP-II) is being implemented from July 2023 to June 2028.

The program aims to enhance the social well-being and resilience of vulnerable farming households and communities by strengthening: (i) food security and climate resilience, (ii) sustainable household incomes through enterprise development, and (iii) social protection and child rights with meaningful participation of women and children.

2.  Position Summary:

The Program Coordinator (Technical) will provide strategic and technical leadership for the agriculture, climate resilience, enterprise development, and market systems components of the Nepal Livelihood and Resilience Program Phase II (NLRP-II). Working closely with the Head of Program, Program Coordinator, M&E team, and district program teams, the incumbent will support project planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and quality assurance.

The position will provide technical guidance on climate-smart agriculture, enterprise development, value chain strengthening, market linkages, and private sector engagement while ensuring effective program delivery, accountability to communities and donors, and alignment with Caritas Nepal's vision, mission, and organizational values. The role will also oversee technical documentation, knowledge management, and support the strengthening of project monitoring and evidence-based learning.

Requirements and Qualifications

  •  Master's degree in agriculture fields.
  •  Minimum of 5-years of progressively responsible professional experience in designing, managing, and implementing livelihood and climate-resilient agriculture programmes within NGOs, INGOs, or development agencies.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in two or more of the following areas: Integrated Pest Management (IPM), climate-resilient farming technologies and practices, sustainable agriculture, homestead support programmes, and climate-smart agricultural approaches.
  • Proven experience in enterprise and value chain development, agribusiness promotion, market linkage, and community-based rural tourism/homestay development, including capacity building of farmer groups, cooperatives, and local stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience with results-based management methodologies and tools (project and program management, design, monitoring and evaluation) and research.
  • Proven track record in implementing innovative approaches in program;
  • Strong communication and influencing skills using evidence-based methods;
  • Technical competence in evidence-based program design, management and implementation approaches and practices both for accountability and learning processes;
  • Demonstrable experience participating in program designing, management & implementation;
  • Excellent ability to articulate oral and written technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Must have demonstrated leadership qualities, depth and breadth of management expertise and experience; previous experience supervising and mentoring staff;
  • Experience with both quantitative and qualitative methods, including guidance/tool/SOP development, and facilitating community-level and key stakeholder KIIs & FGDs;
  • Experience with KoBo Toolbox or other ODK software is desirable. Experience of statistical and data management software (STATA, SPSS) is an advantage;
  • Fluent in both English and Nepali.
