National Federation of Youth NGOs Nepal (NFYN)
The National Federation of Youth NGOs Nepal (NFYN), founded in 2013, is a national level umbrella non-governmental organization with over 800 youth-led NGOs from Nepal's 65 districts and seven provinces. As a national youth federation, NFYN has a youth-led member organization from each region of the country working in the sector of youth development and other related issues. The organization was founded by a group of young professionals from various sectors with the goal of promoting and protecting youth organizations in Nepal by leading the youth-rights movement. Its mission is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as the primary foundation for reaching out to youth groups in order to economically and socially empower them. Furthermore, NFYN has been working in other social development sectors such as human rights, peace, sustainable development, disaster risk reduction and management, environmental protection, climate change, and so on. During the 2015 massive earthquake, NFYN was actively involved in rescue, relief, and protection work. NYFN has been also providing support in other natural disasters such as floods and landslides in different parts of Nepal. During the emergencies and natural disasters, NFYN has been mobilizing a large number of Nepalese youths from all over the country.
NFYN is currently inviting applications from suitable Nepali candidates for the following full-time positions for its Community Based Disaster Response and Management project. This project aims to strengthen the disaster management system in Nepal to reduce and manage disaster risks and to ensure multi-hazard risk mapping/information-based disaster risk forecasting, preparedness, response, capacity building along with disaster risk-sensitive planning and infrastructure construction at all levels.
1. Program Coordinator
NFYN is currently seeking a Program Coordinator to implement and manage the “Community Based Disaster Response and Management” project, support NFYN’s business and partnership development, grant making, program implementation, report writing, monitoring and evaluation for NFYN projects. This is a full-time position which will be under the supervision of the Central President.

Duty Station: Kathmandu
Purpose: The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the NFYN to implement and manage “Community Based Disaster Response and Management” project, manage program team, proposal writing, reporting, capacity development, and fundraising. He/she will be in charge of overseeing, managing, and ensuring timely progress, deliverables, and reporting on all NFYN projects.The Program Coordinator is in charge of project costs, ensuring that they are well managed, monitored, and evaluated. The Program Coordinator will report the Central President and will collaborate closely with members of the NFYN Executive Board.
Qualification: The incumbent must hold a Master's degree in development studies, social sciences, development studies, DRR related studies or another relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of work experience, preferably in a national or international development organization in DRR related program operation and management, with strong technical and leadership abilities is required.
Skills and Knowledge: The candidate should be fluent in both English and Nepali, both orally and in writing. He or she should have demonstrated skills in project management, communication, proposal and report writing, grants making, project management, research, campaigning, and fund raising.
Responsibilities:
- Take lead role in planning and effective implementation of the organizational activities.
- Prepare program/project status reports for management, the board, donors, budget review, program analysis, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with internal and external relevant stakeholders including donor for the effective implementation of the project activities of NFYN.
- Prepare different manual and procedural guidelines on project management and capacity development of the youth NGOs.
- Identify and track relevant funding and partnership opportunities, and developing plans to compete for these funding opportunities; executing those plans, including oversight of pre-solicitation/pre-proposal activities, as well as proposal preparation and submission.
- Support NFYN management to form strategic programming consortia which strengthen both programming and resource mobilization.
- Coordinate and manage good and working relationship with relevant government agencies, non-governmental organizations and individuals for the effective implementation of the NFYN projects.
- Coordinate and communicate with other development and social networks, with key decision makers, and liaison with national level youth forums.
- Support in preparation of detailed implementation plan - Prepare quarter, biannual and annual progress report of NFYN.
- Support to prepare the guideline and essential document for partnership with different organizations.
- Support in preparation and updating the profile and database of NFYN member organizations.
- Coordinate with the board and staff of NFYN for administrative and financial matters.
- Take a special role for effectiveness of NFYN activities and social campaigns.
- Take the lead/supportive role for organizing different training, workshop, interaction, board meeting and other events of the organization.
- Prepare and update all of the information and report of the organization and publish it in to the website and newsletter of the organization.
- Support to update the website and publication of different documents of the organization.
Remunerations: As per NFYN policy.

2. Finance Officer
NFYN also invites application from eligible candidates for the position of Finance Officer.

Duty Station: Kathmandu
Purpose: The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the effective delivery of financial services, the transparent use of financial resources, and the management of NFYN's Finance Unit.
Qualification: Masters Degree in Finance/Accounting, Business, or Public Administration, or a professional accounting qualification from a recognized institute.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in providing financial management and accounting services, managing staff and operational systems in NGO/INGO sector. Experience in the usage of computers and software packages (Tally, MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and accounting packages.
Skills and Knowledge: He/she should have sound knowledge about preparing financial statements and reports for planning, donor reporting, controlling, and decision-making. Good understanding of financial procedures, laws and policies related to finance, procurement. He/she should have excellent knowledge on internal audit and financial review and analysis, and experience in NGO’s budget review and management.
Major Responsibilities:
- Support Finance Manager to prepare financial reports for NFYN projects.
- Perform the finance and admin related task of the organization in supervision and close coordination with Finance Manager of NFYN.
- Prepare payments of invoices/claims and advance requests for staffs, consultants and different parties.
- Ensure payroll/salary sheet of each staff and consultants calculated and adjusted as per contracts.
- Prepare bank reconciliation, pay monthly payment of telephone, electricity, water, bills in time and deposit taxes and approved from Inland Revenue Office.
- Make sure no payment is made without proper authorized signatures on documents according to Staff Regulations, Financial Rules and Regulations of NFYN.
- Make sure that the vouchers generated are prepared, signed and cross-checked with supporting documents.
- Ensure invoicing, filing the supporting documents of the project as per donor requirements and guidelines.
- Support Finance Manager in managing assets registration, carrying out physical verification of assets according to financial management rules and regulations and ensure accuracy of non- recurring items stock book.
- Support in staff management including preparation and maintenance of a personal file of each of project’s staff members and manage leave record accordingly.
- Handle petty cash.
- Assist in preparation of detailed cost estimates and lead reconciliation, budget analysis and projections as required.
- Follow up for accounts receivables and payables.
- Assist in logistic, financial and administrative management in the program organized by NFYN.
- Provide day-to-day project financial and administrative support to Finance Manager.
- Perform other accounting tasks as assigned by Finance Manager and the Central President.
